🔥 Coal, you had a good run, but it looks like your influence on energy generation is fading faster than my ex's interest in my dad jokes. According to a report, coal-fired power plants in the US are shutting down faster than expected. Looks like the future is coal-less and, dare I say it, pretty darn clean! 💌 Subscribe to get fresh news every day: https://0xcafe.news

🔍 What does the UK’s last coal power plant closure mean for Southeast Asia? 🌏 Coal, which once fuelled the UK’s Industrial Revolution and powered its economic growth, is no longer essential in today’s energy mix. This wasn’t only an environmental choice but a strategic economic decision. 🏙️ 💷 💰 While the regions’ economic and energy challenges are distinct, the UK fully phasing out coal power generation sends a strong message. Transitioning away from coal is not just an ambition but a realistic policy objective. In north America natural gas is the logical replacement for coal. However if you consider new natural gas tech like NET Power which delivers nearly 0 emission electricity and 8RH2 which delivers 0 emission hydrogen/ammonia from natural gas. This makes it logical for countries like the US/CDN to both use baseload reliable natural gas domestically and for export in support of global CO2 emission reduction using inexpensive natural gas.

The western countries in yellow are all focused on reducing coal, natural gas, and oil as part of the "green" agenda of Build Back Better. All the countries in grey...many of the BRICS and BRICS+ countries are still very much focused on continuing to use coal, natural gas, and oil with use of those reliable sources increasing.
