With recent weather events, its becoming quite frequent that we both prepare for,and command incidents caused by the impact of the weather. I have developed a "live" share point document in use since Babet to support tactics and strategy by having a Common Operational Picture available in the Control but also to key stakeholders to support deployments #stormimpact

2,213,017 acres have burned nationwide in 2024. 34 active large fires across the western states. Last year, we witnessed the speed and power of a destructive wildfire from our headquarters during the Tunnel 5 Fire in Washington. Infrared cameras can detect hotspots, monitor fire behavior in real-time, and identify fire spread patterns even through dense smoke, enabling quicker response and more effective resource allocation. This technology is vital for the safety of both firefighters and affected communities. Check out Overwatch Imaging to see how they are advancing this technology to address these critical challenges. Serving my community by helping to protect what matters most | Innovating for smarter, safer world @ Axis Communications | Conserving local wildlife @ Susquehannock Wildlife Society
These are the types of uses for our technology that really make me love what we do. My hope is that with more of these solutions being deployed across the world we can not only save lives but help to lessen the impact of these more frequent severe storm events.

Fighting fires becomes even more challenging with the rapid spread of heat, flames, and toxic gasses caused by convection currents. That's where thermal imaging cameras come in. Thermal cameras allow firefighters to spot these invisible currents, helping them predict fire behavior and make safer decisions on the fire ground. Check out how fast these convection currents can really move through the lens of an AttackPRO. 🔥 Video: Insight Fire Training Andy Starnes | West Virginia Safety Expo #Seekthermal #seetheunseen #firefightersafety #convectioncurrents #fireprevention

Thermal imaging isn't just about spotting heat - it's about understanding the entire thermal spectrum. Firefighters are trained to recognize areas of concern based on heat signatures, but cold or dark spots can be just as critical. Victims are often found in cooler areas, so it's important to consider all temperature ranges. However, in extreme heat, victims may appear dark or blend into surroundings versus showing up “white hot” just like in this video. 🔥 🎥: Andy Starnes Insight Fire Training | Delaware State Fire School https://lnkd.in/gmQ9RQM2 #seekthermal #seetheunseen #firefighter #firefightersafety #AttackPRO
