Just watched Submerged - New Apple Immersive Movie - my thoughts **no spoilers** Overall I absolutely loved it, it was shot very well, colours were nice and to see an immersive movie shot at the level of quality was amazing. This is pure info for people and the views are my own opinion and nothing is right or wrong here. Types of shots - you have level full BMD/Apple immersive cam shots (full 180 FOV) & you have vignetted stereo close ups from another camera system (potentially two camera with lenses that offer high depth of field that you simply can’t get with a dual lens system.) Movement - there are some slow dolly movements forwards and there are fast forwards and backwards dolly shots which for me actually felt surprisingly comfortable Angles - mostly level wide & level close which to me are totally fine. There are some angles I wasn’t so sure should have been tilted downward, some slight downward angles or even fully top down shots really broke the immersion for me as I could see rooms tilted or the horizon, which felt off. A few shots where you are top down in what is basically a tunnel kind of worked as you lose the feeling of the anything that “should” be level in real life (only way these situations can be tilted would be from a neck tilt and you are force to be tilted with your neck level as a viewer. These are shots I personally would prefer level with adjusted heights and let my neck do the tilting if the shot is long enough to allow it. The visual effects are great and it’s very exciting to see what they did with underwater work and also just dealing with pyro effects and water overall. Final thoughts are is a brilliant first film by Apple Immersive and I obviously want more, I could quite easily watch a longer movie than this at 17 mins, allowing for character buildup and a broader storyline while feeling like you are in the moment. Let’s see what’s next! Hope you all enjoy it Apple #appleimmersive #movies #immersivemovies #VR180 #xr #vr
