Values in Action: Shaping the Next Generation At Shape A Child Foundation, we believe that values are not just abstract concepts, but powerful tools for shaping the character and future of our children. Because it takes a village to raise a child, we have partnered with Uncle Sele, Eti Osa LG and, well meaning Individuals to join us in establishing a values-based club/competition - so that we can move our impact from cognitive to real-world, socio-emotional and behavioral development. Through this initiative, we're empowering primary school children to: 1. Develop Strong Character: Explore and internalize positive values during their formative years. 2. Acquire Practical Life Skills: Tackle challenges that build essential skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication. 3. Benefit from Positive Peer Influence: Foster a community of like-minded children committed to ethical choices and excellence. 4. Stay Engaged and Motivated: Apply their values through a competitive, yet rewarding platform that sparks their creativity and sense of achievement. 5. Achieve Holistic Development: Contribute to their social, emotional, and intellectual growth, helping them become well-rounded individuals. By prioritizing values-based education, we're shaping the next generation of ethical leaders and responsible citizens. Join us in this transformative journey as we continue to support the children in our community. In our journey to nurture the next generation, it's crucial to rethink how we approach discipline, especially when it comes to children and their mistakes. 🌱 🚫 Punishment often comes to mind as the default response when children make errors. However, I believe this approach can hinder their ability to learn and grow effectively. Here's why: • Learning through Experience: Mistakes are powerful teachers. They provide invaluable opportunities for children to understand consequences, reflect on their actions, and develop problem-solving skills. • Building Resilience: Shielding children from mistakes and their natural consequences can inadvertently stifle their resilience. By navigating setbacks and learning to overcome challenges, children develop the resilience needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. • Promoting Positive Behavior: Rather than punitive measures, constructive guidance and positive reinforcement can guide children towards understanding and adopting appropriate behaviors. This approach fosters a supportive environment where mistakes are viewed as opportunities for improvement, not reasons for shame. • Encouraging Risk-Taking: Fear of punishment may discourage children from taking risks or trying new things. Embracing mistakes as part of the learning process encourages creativity, innovation, and a willingness to explore beyond one's comfort zone. As educators, parents, and leaders, let's strive to create environments where children feel safe to make mistakes and empowered to learn from them. Together, we can cultivate a generation that embraces challenges, learns from setbacks, and ultimately thrives in an environment that values growth over perfection. How do you approach discipline and learning from mistakes in your interactions with children? Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) is an essential part of building a strong educational partnership between families and schools. These meetings provide valuable insights into a child’s academic progress, social development, and areas of growth, allowing parents and teachers to work together toward fostering a positive learning environment. Open communication, mutual respect, and collaboration are key to ensuring that every child thrives and reaches their full potential. The more we invest in these connections, the stronger the foundation we create for our future leaders. #ParentTeacherMeeting #EducationMatters #StudentSuccess

The Power of Nurturing Self-Discovery After weeks of travel and deep personal reflection, one experience reignited my passion for the important work I get to do. As my college students submitted their final "Educator Manifestos" for the semester, one profound theme emerged across their reflections - for so many, their entire lives up until this point were spent struggling with identity, purpose, and pleasing others. From lacking confidence and guidance in their interests, to grappling with emotional and mental health challenges, to changing majors and schools multiple times, they'd accepted paths into fields that didn't truly align with their values or "whys." But through this class focused on self-exploration and growth, they were able to powerfully articulate their sense of purpose in becoming educators. Their manifestos were raw, vulnerable stories of journeying from uncertainty to clarity on their authentic callings. Reading their reflections filled me with immense gratitude for the opportunity to be a guide on their paths of self-discovery. It's clear that when we take the time to empower youth to think critically, ask questions, and push outside their comfort zones from an early age, we shape not just teachers, but visionary leaders and trailblazers for the next generation. Some days, I've doubted the significance of the work I do. But their powerful manifestos confirm the vital importance of nurturing identity, passion and purpose within all students. Because when we develop self-aware, purpose-driven leaders from the classroom, we create the change-makers of tomorrow. I'm reinvigorated and reminded why investing in our youth through education is one of the most powerful forces for positive change. I'm truly honored to play a role in these journeys.

Another Microlearning Moment from New Teacher University... The post-pandemic era has brought forth new challenges for educators, students, and families alike. As we navigate these uncharted waters, it is clear that the role of a principal has evolved. The post-pandemic principal must lead with unprecedented levels of compassion, surpassing any previous era in history. We have witnessed a shift in mindset among teachers, realizing that they are enough without sacrificing their personal well-being. This calls for a different type of leadership, one that prioritizes empathy and understanding. It is crucial that we lead with compassion if we aspire to create impactful and thriving schools. Let us not forget the cost of caring, as it is a burden we bear. We must acknowledge that compassion fatigue exists and work towards reawakening empathy in those who have become desensitized. Together, we can make a difference. Thank you Ayesis Clay, M.Ed. for elevating this much needed conversation with our audience. 🌟 Breaking the Shell, Shaping the Future 🌟 After six years in the educational sector, I’ve seen a recurring challenge: our children grow up under the comfort of fantasies, only to face a harsh reality when they step into college or high school. It’s heartbreaking to see them feeling lost and unprepared at such a critical stage in life. That’s why, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of my first Student Counseling Desk — a platform designed to help our youth connect with inspiring individuals, reshape their mindsets, and prepare for the challenges ahead. The vision is clear: ✨ Guidance and Counseling at the Right Age Our school-aged children need proper mentoring while they’re still building their foundation for the future. ✨ Networking with Inspiring Minds By connecting students with professionals, achievers, and visionaries, we’ll help them discover new perspectives and opportunities beyond the classroom. ✨ Support for the Overlooked With overcrowded classrooms and overburdened teachers, many students struggle silently. This initiative is here to ensure they’re heard, guided, and supported every step of the way. This isn’t just about counseling—it’s about building a community that empowers students to dream bigger and tackle life’s challenges with confidence. The journey begins now! Let’s shape the future together, one student at a time. 🌱 #StudentCounseling #YouthEmpowerment #EducationMatters #GuidanceForGrowth

This picture was taken in 2018 during one of our signature programs at Brighter Girls. Parents still rave about it and have asked for its return due to the significant impact it had on their daughters. (It's coming!) Most of the girls in this picture are now either one step away from university or already attending one. It was exciting to see Chidinma at my last speaking engagement at Oxbridge Tutorial College- all grown! 😃 Like many teachers, I once believed that the impact of our work as educators couldn't be measured until our students grew into adults. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Teenagers need caring adults and mentors now. They need leadership and guidance, to help them navigate the dynamic teenage years. Parents of the teens I work with continue to share the positive impact of coaching, and it is truly remarkable to see a teenager come into ownership and self- leadership. During one of these programs, I discovered the massive gaps of not preparing pre-teens for secondary school and the teenage years. Many preteens are easily swayed and find themselves in avoidable situations because no one guided them. This realization is why the work I do with preteens through my "10 Going on 13" program is so close to my heart. It's every parent's winning strategy: starting early to ensure a smooth and happy journey through secondary school for both the parent and the teen. You can find more information here: https://lnkd.in/dTsHbVFh. If you have a pre- teen, by all means, join!
