Senior Manager - Audio Production for Times Group | Creative Ideation,Dolby Mix Engineer, Team Building
To all Sound Designers and Post Production Specialists: Have you recently encountered job postings using terms like "Competitive pay" and "working on high quality content"? If so, beware of offers that promise competitive pay but fall short. Remember, ₹2-3 thousand for every hour of deliverable is not competitive. It’s peanuts. Stand up for the value of your work and SAY NO to undervaluing your skills. To all the Agencies searching for Sound Designers: If you seek "Hollywood-like Audio quality," be ready to invest in it. Keep in mind that Netflix doesn't pay ₹6-9 thousand for audio post-production on a 3-hour movie. Quality work deserves fair compensation. #SoundDesign #PostProductionSpecialists #FairPay

Most independent artist managers / service providers base their operations and actions out of fear; assisting an artist achieve an often unrealistic goal just to keep an artist on the roster. Often the artist has expectations that revolve around industry support and vanity metrics that put the subjective nature of the project / music at the forefront. When these expectations of the artist are (more often than not) not reached, the first person on the chopping block is *suprise suprise* - the manager. We need to support an artists’ understanding of what the ACTUAL role of an artist manager is. Further, we need to be supporting managers and service providers to ensure their communication with artists is at a level where the artist is really clear around what the targets and what the roles of each person in the team actually is. - It’s not the managers job to get shows, that’s for a booking agent. - It’s not your managers job to get editorial, thats your distributor & label. - It’s not your managers job to get sync, that’s a publisher. - It’s not your managers job to get radio / online placement, that’s a publisict. Managers delegate between the above, but are not responsible for performing that direct role. It’s not okay for managers to operate out of fear and unrealistic expectations because artists don’t know about the role they are hiring.. All for 15% of nothing. #artistmanagement #artistdevelopment #musicindustry

Failure is an inevitable part of any career journey. Instead of seeing it as a setback, let's view it as an opportunity for growth and learning. Each mistake teaches us something valuable and brings us one step closer to success. ☝️ Recently I took responsibility for recording a live show and providing the client with the full concert coverage video. I hired 4 operators, assigned them precise shooting locations and roles. But !... I didn't think about the audio recording, which is a crucial part of such a project 🤦 I thought my Zoom H6 audio recorder would be enough, and it indeed worked well, but I didn't record a proper multitrack waveform, therefore making the audio sound "live" instead of being able to get a professional audio mixing functionality. Therefore even though the picture was good enough, the whole thing looked bad because of the beginner-like sound (let's be honest, it really sucked!) As a result, I had to make a discount for the final product so that the client is still kinda happy and that my reputation wouldn't drop heavily. I learned a key lesson: ask more information before starting the project! In this case I should have thought about an audio technician who would handle the recording process, so that I take care of the video and production only. This would have increased the price of the project, but as a result would have been worth it! Big lesson learned! Have you ever experienced work failures and how did you overcome them? #WorkJourney #FailureToSuccess #GrowthMindset #LearningCurve #Resilience

If you work in Australian Game Audio, I want to hear from you! I've created a survey to help us understand how our game audio professionals are working, where they're working, and how sustainable this work is. Working in game audio, you often have to be a composer, sound design, and technical audio professional all in one, and despite there being a lot of multi-talented Australian audio folk in this industry, there is often a lack of job opportunities. Additionally, it is not uncommon for audio work to be outsourced, regardless of the available and more than capable talent located in our backyard. If you have 10 minutes, please fill in this survey. I'll be writing up a report once this data has been collected to help inform what steps the Australian Game Development industry need to take to create more sustainable jobs in Australia, and how to improve the game audio pipeline so that we can foster and grow amazing senior talent! A Voice to Spend Time With - Voiceover Talent Specializing in Corporate Voiceover, Explainer Videos and e-Learning Narration
People love to do it themselves. Some things, that is. But there are certain things that really should be left to a professional, including voiceover. I had some fun and created a spec ad focusing on the pitfalls of not hiring a professional voice talent. Enjoy! #voiceover #advertising
