I want to debunk the common myths about corporate events in Italy. -Nightmare transfers. -Language barriers. -Event planning is limited to summer. Finding the best season-region combination is important to creating a flawless and sustainable event. Each season offers exciting and authentic activities for you to enjoy across Italy, avoiding mass tourism. Unusual examples often ignored by guidebooks include: -In winter, you can visit ancient sites in Sardinia, namely the impressive Nuraghi, which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. -In spring, you can bike among Apulia's iconic "trulli" and massive trees in the Pianelle Nature Reserve, once a land of brigands. -In summer, in the Alps, you can hike along the ancient trails used by herders during the traditional Transumanza or the seasonal movement of livestock between pastures. -In autumn, you can taste the flavours of the Marche region, a food paradise that is little known abroad, after harvesting truffles and mushrooms in the woods. If you are worried about logistics and prices, don't let "off-the-beaten-track" destinations put you off. On the contrary, the overall organisation, including transportation, might be even cheaper than hosting your event in touristic hubs. I've done and seen it all; in fact, this week I'm in Emilia Romagna to design a new incentive and meet my partners. Eurail and Björn Bender, I re-discovered the interrail pass some 25 years after I first used it as a student. It's a fascinating and enriching experience to travel by train and I've fallen in love with it till the extreme that I used already several times the train to cover the journey from Barcelona to Germany. Within the last 10 months I bought 4 global interrail 2 months passes for myself and others for my family. And that's where my critics begin. Meanwhile you as a company cannot move mountains like improving railroad infrastructure, putting direct connections between European cities that are poorly connected, synchronizing transnational schedules, ... You can definitely do better at packaging offers and doing pricing. Think big! Do not limit yourself to the target customer described by the one-time experience you have when traveling several weeks in summer through Europe. Tackle and win those customers that want to travel in a sustainable manner throughout a year! Those who do not want to fly or ride a car if it's not strictly necessary. I'm missing out a global pass with a validity of 12 months granting 30 or 40 travel days. Or have some loyalty programs in place like discounts for buying the next pass before your current one expires. Or group discount schemes that aim at convincing sports clubs or schools to choose trains over planes. Thanks and good luck. You're on the right track. #interrail #Europe #sustainability

November’s Seasonal Wonders A highlight of November in Europe is the golden hues from the colorful autumn leaves best appreciated during one of our guided bike tours through Strasbourg or Dusseldorf or a hike on the Philosopher’s Path in Heidelberg. In autumn, many cities decorate their town squares in harvest themes, and in Austria, you can still find some lively Heuriger (small rustic wine taverns) open to sample the season’s new wines. Starting mid-November, guests can enjoy our festively decorated ships and may even visit early season Christmas Markets in cities like Vienna and Budapest when the crowds are small and the market stands are freshly filled with the most sought-after holiday souvenirs. Easier Access and Shorter Lines February is a great time to visit local museums as there are typically less groups and shorter lines. From Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum to Vienna’s Museum of Fine Arts and House of Music, our guests often enjoy more personal space and quicker access as they move about the collections on display. More Time to Personally Interact with the Locals and Provide Benefit to the Communities Visited Whether you are making a purchase from a local vendor in Avignon, France or dining in a Michelin-rated restaurant in Lyon, traveling when there are less crowds overall makes it easier for you to have unhurried personal conversations with those who live and work in the towns where our ships dock. We believe travel is a force of good in the world, and having the time to linger in shops and interact with locals leads to a deeper connection with the people and places we visit.
