Building a Safer Future welcomes the publication of the Grenfell Inquiry’s final report. We are acutely aware of the impact that this milestone will have on all of those affected by the tragedy. As such, our first thoughts are for all of them. The report’s findings and recommendations rightly emphasise how building safety should be the critical first priority of every organisation working in the built environment industry, in any capacity. Leadership commitment and organisational culture are at the heart of building safety improvement, and every organisation working in the built environment should take every opportunity to identify and focus on their own development areas in a bid to make buildings safer for everyone. Further and faster change is needed, and we call on the industry to come together and commit to delivering the change that is required.

🚧 It's #ConstructionSafetyWeek and we've been speaking to Interim Business Development Director Al Robinson MBA, MAPM, FInstRE about his experiences of leading teams in #safety critical environments : 👷♂️"Having the right safety culture is absolutely paramount. The safety and success of any construction project is down to everyone understanding their role in keeping each other safe. But it also needs leaders to manage safety compassionately. I'm a strong believer in recognising people for being human, understanding individual needs, and creating an environment where people challenge the way we ask them to do work". 👇 Comment below on what you think is the most important thing, to develop the best safety culture, to get everyone home safe 📣 #buildingforgood

Proverbs 16:9 “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” This verse highlights the balance between our plans and God’s sovereignty. While we make plans and seek opportunities, it is ultimately God who directs our steps. Recognizing this helps us to remain humble and dependent on God’s guidance, seeking His wisdom to navigate through the opportunities that come our way. Very thankful for the opportunities that have came my families way both professionally and personally. Had a great training with “Leading The Clyde Way” to end last week in Utah. Had a chance to come together with other amazing leaders from our company. It is always very humbling to be included in a group of leaders like that. WW Clyde and Clyde Companies, Inc. invests a lot of money and time into this leadership program and it is up to us to take advantage of it and bring it back to our teams and share it. If your looking for a career with a company that truly values their employees there are not many places better to be than here at WW Clyde. If your looking for an opportunity for growth and to be a part of a team that values you, and wants you to grow and continuously improve, reach out don’t hesitate. Currently looking for Project Managers, Grading, Concrete, and Underground Superintendents, Foreman, Universal Operators, Pipe Layers, Project Engineers, and motivated individuals that want to learn and be part of a team that is determined to WIN! #Hiring #Leadership #clydeinnovator

It's not only structures that are built in construction. 🙅 But also relationships and progress. And those things don't require tools and equipment. Just people like Laura, our Sales and Engagement Coordinator, who notice opportunities for change and work for it! Another important piece? Industry organizations, like the Niagara Industrial Association, that: - foster relationships - represent anyone in the industry - connect people who can work together and bring about change. Change takes hard work and patience. But most importantly, it takes today's leaders to choose to pave the way for future generations! 💪

Big life lesson & leadership lesson today. On a construction site on the urban fringe of Melbourne, we had an adult kangaroo, injured & highly distressed in trying to find its way out of the site which is ringed by around 8km of temporary fencing. Our environmental specialist was absolutely determined to help the distressed roo and we sent a drone up in order to try and find it, opened a section of fence to help it find its way to freedom and finally jumped into a 4wd to help search for it. Whilst we never found the adult, we did find something else - it’s Joey. Now it could have been pretty easy to give up on finding the adult, and call off searching for it, but it was clear that in doing so would have changed a lot of things - The Joey, abandoned and left on the ground, had no fur and was too young to find its own feet. It would have been dead within hours had we not found it given the cold weather A quick few phone calls and we find a nearby vet we can take it to, all wrapped up in a safety vest to keep warm. Hopefully we saved the Joey’s life today but had we not followed the passion and determination of our environmental advisor, the outcome would have been very different and filled with regret. So next time you see one of your colleagues with so much passion & determination, embrace it. The outcome could be as amazing as ours. The absolute worst outcome can be that you lose a bit of time, but you earn the respect of your colleague for embracing their passion.
