Few basic Architectural terminologies any structural engineer must know FASCIA - wide, flat strip of band under the sloped roof of a building, sometimes extended upright to hide the buildings slope and give the observer a neat rectangular shape from outside. In PEB structures, this fascia's application is inevitable. FACADE - Usually pronounced as 'fazaad' is an exterior wall or envelop of any building. It is generally with glass and aluminum finish. Any commercial & high-rise buildings are finished with facade or curtain wall with the help of steel sections support. FLASHING - Thin sheet installed in such a way to prevent the passage of water into the building at the edges/corners. This is also giving a neat, finished look for the observer. RCP - Reflected ceiling plan is the kind of architectural drawing; it shows features of the ceiling as though they were being reflected onto a mirrored floor below. RCP’s show things like electrical wiring, the ceiling treatment (e.g. drywall patterns), light fixtures, and other items that are mounted on or suspended from the ceiling. For structural engineers, this might help to coordinate their beams framing arrangement with other services. PATIO - An outdoor space generally used for dining or recreation that adjoins a structure and is typically paved. SKYLIGHT/WALL LIGHT - In sheet cladded buildings, certain area of the steel metal sheets is replaced with transparent polycarbonate sheets to allow light to enter the building. There are still more terminologies also there. Suggest any term If you think a any structural engineer must know in the comment section. Hope this post is useful & informative.
