This week's top question from my Introduction to Aviation course is from Sharbil, who asks: "As a Pilot have you ever been afraid that you might fail your medical certificate - and if so - what would be your plan if you lost your medical?" Thanks for sharing your journey!

AMAZING weather for flying this weekend. The cost today to obtain a private pilot’s license (PPL) in the United States typically ranges from $8,000 to $15,000. This includes expenses for flight training, ground school, medical exams, study materials, and licensing fees. Here’s a breakdown of the costs: 1. Flight Training: $5,000 - $10,000 (depending on the number of hours required and the type of aircraft used) 2. Ground School: $200 - $500 3. Medical Exam: $75 - $200 4. Study Materials: $100 - $300 5. Exams and Checkride: $500 - $800 6. Miscellaneous Fees: $200 - $500 (includes club fees, headset, etc.) These costs can vary based on location, flight school rates, and how quickly you "pick it up."

AirCARE1’s medical air ambulances offer many advantages to patients and their families when transport is necessary. A few benefits include: 🛫 Speed: Our air ambulances fly higher and faster than commercial jets, enabling patients to get to their destinations quickly and efficiently. 🛫 Safety: Air ambulances are equipped with all the medical devices and equipment found in a medical facility so patients can receive the same high level of quality care they did before their flight. 🛫 Availability: We tailor our flight times to meet our patients’ needs, being prepared to launch in as little as two hours once the necessary paperwork is received. 🛫 Quality: Patients will receive expert medical care from skilled medical crews using advanced medical technology to ensure safety and health. #airambulance #airmedicaltransport #medicaltransport #medevac #learjet

RCVS Council - elected or appointed? Good Governance proposals direct the profession towards an appointed Council. This approach has the support of the RCVS who see it as compatible with the Government approach to other professional bodies. We should approach with caution. The GMC is an appointed body and appears to have lost the trust of many doctors. This is due to the GMC following Government wishes for widening the workforce with associate professionals (semi-qualified doctors) and more recently accelerating access with shortened degree courses. While there would be a selection process for a new RCVS appointed Council, most important is who sits on the selection panel. Alternatively a Government influenced RCVS appointed body could implement unwelcome changes that weaken our profession and control over our own destiny? With an elected Council, the whole membership selects the Council representatives, having had every chance to assess individual merits.

And that wraps up our #busopendata and #accessibleinformation in-person workshops. We’ve had a good few weeks of travelling about, to ensure that #bus and #coach operators can better comply with both sets of requirements. A huge thanks to KPMG for hosting, and taking attendees through the #BODS side of things. Also thanks to Tim Rivett from RTIG for support about the AI Grant. Further thanks to our supplier members for their input, and to Confederation of Passenger Transport team members Karen Tiley, Andrew McGuinness, and Phil Smith for their assistance with putting these events on. Our efforts don’t end there. We’re still keeping an eye on developments, and we’re here to support our members with both of these key legislative PSV sector requirements. And after all that, you’ll all know that there’s a Governent consultation about removing restrictions for 18- and 19-year-old PSV drivers, and provisional licence requirements for off road test modules, which closes tomorrow… Be sure to provide your views and experiences! https://lnkd.in/ea4WABxk
