Also, sometimes, known for hurting the egos of trolls
Dear agencies who are on interns-hiring spree,
Here are a few things I have observed and would love to shed some light on:
- Don’t treat them as free labours
- Remember, there’s a difference between teaching them responsibilities and shoving responsibilities to held them responsible for the screw-ups
- Don’t give them huge responsibilities and ask them to just “shadow” you to learn automatically
- Remember that they are not your scapegoats
- Invest time in them. That’s the only way they will become an asset in the future
- They need mentoring more than anyone. So have patience. They will get there
- They bring a lot of new perspectives, so build on their ideas
- Train them to be a fulltime team-member so that they feel like one even when they are interns
- Last but not the least, Be Kind.

This is coming from a retired Gen Z intern who was picking up trash at a music festival under the title of 'marketing intern' for free 😭
And let's be honest, school credit and experience should never be reasons for not paying students. You expect them to be there 9-5 in-office at least a few times a week IN THE CITY? If you're getting trained, managing systems, being a key member in a team AND on the company comms channel– pay them.
No babes, we aren't doing that anymore... I hope this reaches the right audience :)

Yes please!THANK YOU for saying it about damn time. Interns are not free labor; we are the ones the companies have to catch up to; we are the target audience of at least 65% of businesses and guess what we have to survive in the same economy as you are, so for God's sake, give us the money, not the benefits. As much as we love the "networking opportunities," "free goodies," or "exposure," we need cash too. The number of people in higher positions who just expect us to believe that money ain't that important and that we should be grateful for the opportunity in the first place is just pathetic. We are the future leaders; we have the potential that you (the people in power) need to tap into, so this is a request to please handle that kind of responsibility with grace and practicality and to not take advantage of our "lack of experience" or naivety.

❌ Unpaid Internship Should be Ban! 🚫
I was recently hiring for a PR for a startup that I'm working in, we wanted to hire a candidate who possesses good communication and persuasion skills.
I interviewed more than 30+ candidates, what resonated common in most of them was at the end most of them asked me 'Sir, is this going to be a paid internship ' ?
I was shocked and amazed at how this question can be so common, why aren't companies or startups paying their interns or is it something else?
There are various schemes available out there which can help you to hire interns and pay them but still why the candidates have a doubt about whether they will be paid or not.
I instantly asked HR to tell the candidates on the very first call even before the interview that ' this is going to be a paid internship'. ✅
Have you come across such scenarios? 🎯
