While India's membership in the newly revived Quad, comprising the US, Australia, Japan, and India, raised concerns in the ASEAN region, Modi's assurance in Singapore that India and ASEAN stand squarely behind ASEAN and underline its central role in the regional security architecture deserves praise, as it marked a major attempt to reboot one of India's most valuable partnerships in Asia and the world. By giving more thrust to semiconductor diplomacy with both Singapore and Malaysia, both of which have significant capabilities in semiconductor production, India has signaled its commitment to semiconductor collaboration with these two countries and leveraged it to make its semiconductor ecosystem more robust.

As we commemorate Australia Day 2025 and India's 76th Republic Day, we acknowledge the robust and enduring friendship between our two nations. Australia and India share a rich cultural heritage, collaborate on pioneering scientific research, and foster strong business partnerships. From the India-Australia Renewable Energy Partnership to the Australia-India Business Exchange, our joint efforts continue to drive innovation and economic growth. India is Australia's 9th largest trading partner, while Australia ranks as India's 13th largest trading partner. Our research collaborations are particularly noteworthy. Over the last decade, joint publications between Australia and India have grown by 470%, making India one of Australia's top ten international research partners. These collaborations span various fields, including health, environmental science, and computer science, and have a higher citation rate than the national averages of both countries.  Australia and India upgraded their bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) in 2020. This partnership is supported by regular high-level interactions, including annual leader-level summits and the 2+2 Foreign and Defence Ministers' Dialogue.
