👩💻More women in tech means more inclusive products (built for everyone). 👩🏾🔬More women in science leads to better women-focused solutions.   👩🏽💼More women in entrepreneurship equals better solutions and higher ROI for investors. and yet...    Only 28% of women work in tech, 35% - in STEM.  Only 10% of Female CEOs run Fortune 500 companies.   Only 2.1% of VC funding goes to female-founded startups.    Why?   Becuase of bias.  Stereotypes.  Lack of role models.  Toxic workplaces  Bro culture  Lack of sponsors Outdated societal norms   Harassment and discrimination    the list goes on...    According to research more diverse companies (including female leaders on boards) perform better financial not talking about better solutions and products, better company culture, fair promotion and compensation.     It’s Women’s Month. Don’t just say you “support women” and do nothing. Walk the talk: ✅Hire more women in tech. On leadership levels too.  ✅Fund more women-led startups. Big checks too.   ✅Promote more women into leadership roles. Invest in their growth.   ✅Become an Executive Sponsor of your Women ERG. 1.9% of women-owned businesses receive funding. 10.9% of CEO or senior leadership roles in tech are held by women. In the dynamic world of innovation. 15% of tech industry founders are women. 19.1% of the ICT (information and communication technology) sector are women. We need to foster a tech landscape that celebrates diversity. We need diverse perspectives at the top to drive success. We need for a more inclusive startup ecosystem.

Last night I attended the annual Startup Grind Women's Summit, as part of #SGWomen's month. 🌟 The theme - Women in #AI. 🌟 Thanks so much to the fascinating and inspirational female panel - all of which have come from backgrounds unrelated to AI - for sharing their insights and experiences. Key learnings from the event include: 🌟 AI is an elevator. It is an extension to our learning capabilities. 🌟 AI still has an image problem due to lack of diversity and collaboration. 🌟 The tech industry needs more female role models. 🌟 And it needs to be seen to support female leaders. Although events like this are invaluable it frustrates me that in 2024, the tech industry still has a reputation for being a bit of a boys’ club with only 29% of the UK tech industry being women. If the industry doesn’t take a proactive approach to change, this imbalance is not expected to close until 2120. Don't get me wrong, since I started working in #techpr, the industry has unquestionably made progress, but there’s much more to be done. Empowering women in tech requires a multifaceted approach that addresses both individual and systemic barriers. Here are some successful strategies (thanks techUK) for fostering gender diversity and inclusion in the tech industry: 🌟 Inclusive hiring practices: Implementing blind recruitment processes and diverse hiring panels can help mitigate bias and promote equal opportunities for all candidates.   🌟 Supportive work environments: Cultivating inclusive cultures where women feel valued, supported, and respected is paramount. Providing mentorship programs, leadership development opportunities, and flexible work arrangements can contribute to a more supportive environment.   🌟 Visibility and representation: Highlighting the achievements and contributions of women in tech through mentorship programs, speaker series, and recognition initiatives can inspire the next generation of female technologists and challenge stereotypes. Women in Tech: The Revolution We Need👩💻🚀 The stats are staggering, but the opportunity is massive. As women in technology, we have the power to reshape this industry landscape and inspire the next generation. An equitable future demands our leadership. 🙋♀️ 💰 Companies with higher gender diversity on their executive teams are 21% more likely to outperform on profitability. 💡 Having women in leadership roles increases innovation revenue by 19%. 🏢 Yet women hold only 28% of leadership roles across the world, despite making up nearly half of the global workforce. 😔 In the tech industry, a mere 5% of leadership positions are held by women. I defied expectations from the start: coming from Central & Eastern Europe, speaking only a rare language like Hungarian, with no women in tech role models around me, to mention a few. Yet here I am, and I know that this is where I belong. 🙆♀️ Don't let societal norms or preconceived notions limit your aspirations. Embrace your unique talents and authenticity wholeheartedly.
