Yes, yes, yes!!! The push to return to the office is often rooted in a lack of preparedness among managers to lead hybrid teams. "It's harder to manage a hybrid team," I am often told. It's time to address the training gap. I respond: "Managing a hybrid team is DIFFERENT from managing an all, in-person team." With proper training and planning, the challenges of managing a hybrid team are diminished. Managers need to be trained on the use of digital collaboration tools and soft skills such as leading, communicating, team building, and managing performance in a hybrid environment. We have to stop assuming managers will or have figured it out. Filling the training gap will equip managers with the skills needed to create a supportive and effective hybrid environment that benefits both employees and the organization. Leading hybrid teams is not always easy, in fact, while I believe it provides amazing opportunities for flexible work, I will be the first to admit it takes a strong committment and a growth mindset to make it work. In a recent article by Cheryl 🌟 Founder NextMapping 🌟 Future of Work , she outlines 5 Practices for Leading Hybrid Teams. From my experience, she has identified some valuable’s key practices. They are: 👉 Shift your mindset about workplace ‘culture’ 👉 Accept the challenges of hybrid workplace dynamics 👉 Consistently communicate hybrid expectations to the team 👉 Regular training on tools and technologies for hybrid teams 👉 Create clarity around what it means to be successful The second one stood out to me, and I appreciate her positive, yet realistic approach. Two of the biggest challenges are effective communication, and being sure remote and on-site staff are equally included. However, once identified and acknowledged, both these challenges can be overcome with a leader’s intentionality, self-awareness, and a collaborative approach to leadership. 👍 Check out the article…it’s worth the read! #hybridworking #leadershipdevelopment #emotionalintelligence #strengthsdevelopment #coaching #teamdevelopment HTTPS://https://lnkd.in/gEP5-iR8

A survey by TechSmith and Global Workplace Analytics reveals that only a quarter of companies have trained their managers to lead hybrid teams, and employees feel inadequately supported in adjusting to this new way of working. Managers and employees are disconnected and disengaged. What can we do to fix it? I'd say group coaching which centers on the skills managers need to handle this remote era. Many of these managers are handling an environment that's completely alien to them. By playing through practical scenarios in a controlled environment, managers can learn from each other and gain the courage to oversee hybrid teams with confidence. #GroupCoaching #HybridTeams #Training
