Yes, yes, yes!!! The push to return to the office is often rooted in a lack of preparedness among managers to lead hybrid teams. "It's harder to manage a hybrid team," I am often told. It's time to address the training gap. I respond: "Managing a hybrid team is DIFFERENT from managing an all, in-person team." With proper training and planning, the challenges of managing a hybrid team are diminished. Managers need to be trained on the use of digital collaboration tools and soft skills such as leading, communicating, team building, and managing performance in a hybrid environment. We have to stop assuming managers will or have figured it out. Filling the training gap will equip managers with the skills needed to create a supportive and effective hybrid environment that benefits both employees and the organization.
