📽 What a timely post for recruiters! Just unearthed this classic "1950s Recruiter Academy Training Video: Career Fairs" — and let me tell you, the tips are still invaluable for anyone prepping for a career fair in 2024! Here are some additional best practices to think about for a successful career fair, they are the "Bees Knees!" 😀 Create an inviting and welcoming presence (Avoid sitting behind your booth) 👀 Eye contact is key (Don't just stare at the resume) ⏩ Keep the line moving, and don't Jibber Jabber too Much! (Don't rush, but be cognizant of your line flow) 😃 Provide insight about the culture students can't find online 👥 For long lines, if able, designate a team member to be the line manager, and utilize group chats when possible 🪟 Be as transparent and Authentic as possible (Who to speak with, where to apply, process, next steps, etc) There is so much more that could be included, but I didn't have time to list, since unearthing this video from the 1950's took so long, Far out right! ⁉️What are some others that should be included? Happy Career Fair Season! #CareerFairs #Training #Satire #Fun #UniversityTalent #Recruiters Carnegie Mellon University - CPDC

National Workforce Development Expert, Professional Motivator, Economic Equity Leader, and Innovator serving as a Local Workforce Development Board Director, Nonprofit Executive & Licensed Consultant
It's still #WorkforceWednesday so I want to talk about perfecting business services. One strategy in perfecting any process is to be specific, and I want to know how everyone defines the difference between a #JobFair and #HiringEvent. At Employ Prince George's, job fairs are large-scale events with 10 or more businesses, with a ratio of quadruple the amount of job seekers versus employers. Opposite of job fairs are customized recruitment events that have less than 5 employers with a targeted amount of recruited job seekers. Do you use this as your definition? How do you maximize the outcomes of your job fairs or hiring events? Is there a third type of event? #WorkforceWednesday #WorkforceWire #HiringEvents #JobFairs #BusinessServices #WIOA #AmericanJobCenter

Business Administration | University of Texas at Dallas | Jindal School of Management | Seeking Internship Opportunities
The Naveen Jindal School of Management Undergraduate Internship and Job Expo last week was a fantastic experience that allowed me to gain insight into the nature of career fairs and prepare me for the many career fairs I will attend. My professor, Denise C., played an important role in preparing for the career fair. Her guidance on cover letters, resumes, and elevator pitches allowed me to prepare well beforehand. The opportunity to talk to the recruiters at the career fair allowed me to obtain first-hand exposure to body language and professional communication skills. The diversity of job opportunities at the fair covered a wide range of skills and majors. While there weren't many opportunities for first-year students, the exposure and interaction with the recruiters were significant steps toward future career-fair interactions. I had the honor of speaking to Ashley Rojas, a Human Resources Generalist from Southwest Solutions Group, and I'm grateful for how she answered all my questions transparently and effectively! One crucial piece of advice I would offer future career fair attendees is to balance your career aspirations and the opportunities that come your way. While it's important to have a clear idea of the fields you're interested in, it's equally vital to keep an open mind about internships and jobs to which your skills can be applied. Flexibility is key. Also, I would like to point out that effective time management is essential. Plan your visit to the fair and use your time wisely to engage with as many recruiters as possible.
