Ethics in Communication and Relationship Building ✍️ This focuses on general phone calls and relations ethics. Relationships are privileges. Building and maintaining relationships is a privilege that hinges on effective communication. Mastering the art of phone calls, chats and text is crucial across all levels of interaction: with superiors, peers, and subordinates. 1. Chats. We love to chat unfortunately but Respect Boundaries and avoid initiating unnecessary conversations unless requested. 2. A good use of calls and text. Limit phone calls to twice and supplement with a text for urgent matters. Wait for a response rather than overcalling, which can lead to misunderstandings and disregard. Assuming you have a problem one day and you overcall it will be respected because it will be seen as an emergency 🤷 I'm sure you don't want to be less regarded at any point. 3. Be Respectful. Address individuals appropriately using titles like sir, ma'am, miss, or mister, especially in cultures valuing respect like Nigeria most importantly on #linkedin. Avoid informal terms with unfamiliar or senior individuals. For your peers Saying hi or Caren is okay. Learning how to address people and to start up a conversation is a skill and key. 4. Avoid Solicitation. Refrain from requesting favors, especially from those with whom you lack a prior relationship or professional context especially if not on projects. 5. A community/network of friends. Cultivate a circle of trustworthy people you can openly discuss challenges and success with. That is your support system 🫂 6. Be your own person too. Develop a thick skin and humble spirit in any case upholding strong personal values and integrity.A person of strong character. In my experience, maintaining professional communication with a global figure I had once during a project was key. I only used calls and texts for project-related discussions and never chatted. Access is a thing of worth and must be handled with care and wisdom. In geology we were taught, a reservoir is prospective when it is not mature but prolific when it is commercially producible. Similarly in handling people, you wouldn't know which one would have been prolific if you don't handle your communication and relationships well. These things are ethical , Master these principles and share your success😊❤️ #PreciousTobby
