The rig mobilization kicked off in Iceland for our drilling location Thor, the electrically powered #Bentec Euro350 from Iceland Drilling. This drilling rig utilizing power from the local Geothermal power station is in line with our #sustainableenergy approach as well as helping to improve the environment today. I extend my gratitude to the diverse project team, composed of dedicated professionals from various cultures and genders, who collaborated harmoniously to once again deliver a remarkable high-temperature geothermal well, all with a goal to setting a new industry standards for our valued customers and projects. Our latest geothermal achievement involved drilling to a depth of 3000 meters, and the initial tests have shown promising results with formation temperatures exceeding 250 degrees Celsius and exceptional permeability. Every endeavour comes with its share of challenges, and this project was no different. Yet, our team triumphed over these hurdles, meticulously documenting lessons learned to enhance our future activities. We are proud to report that no one was harmed in the making of this well, maintaining Iceland #Drilling´s high standards of safety, health and welfare for it´s crews and equipment. Finally, after a long period of mapping and soil sampling, six drill targets were identified on the farmlands of two landowners we already were in contact with. After discussing our plans, we discovered that not only did they grant permission for the drilling, they also expressed a desire to collaborate on the project. One of them rented out his barn that we used as a core shed while the other provided water supply using his tractor and water tank. Collaboration with local residents ensures: - Employment opportunities - Sharing of knowledge - Mutual trust - More transparency Local residents have a deep insight into the area in which they live. Their knowledge of the local environment gives valuable understanding and guides a company in a responsible way. Especially during the early stage of a project when the area is relatively new to a company, this is very beneficial and contributes to a sustainable collaboration. Balancing the need to prevent excessive surface sealing and uncontrolled water intrusion into the ground, especially in areas with shallow underground mining, requires innovative solutions. That's where blue-green infrastructure & #NBS comes into play. The development strategy for #rainwater #management in Miasto Jaworzno will not be created in isolation - the collaborative approach is ensured thanks to involvement of the municipality departments, Wodociągi Jaworzno sp. z o.o. and other relevant stakeholders. On 12th March, our Regional Implementation Group convened for the first meeting. The focus of the discussion centered around identifying the key success factors for #rainwater #solutions. Two critical factors emerged: the need for comprehensive cooperation among all levels of government responsible for blue-green infrastructure, and the importance of strategic management and spatial planning that incorporates a substantial share of biologically active areas within the city. In next months MAURICE Project teams from Główny Instytut Górnictwa - Państwowy Instytut Badawczy & Miasto Jaworzno will work on these aspects - stay tuned for updates on our progress as we work towards a more sustainable and water-resilient community, as #cooperationiscentral
