May events happening in Denver focusing on Indigenous perspectives and voices speaking on peyote medicine. Join me in listening to Indigenous voices and speakers share their thoughts on their sacred medicine and the Indigenous way of life. Link: https://linktr.ee/otanezmg Some thought provoking questions to get you in the spirit of why this may be important as the so called “Psychedelic Renaissance” pushes forward: - Did you know the Native American Church has publically denounced decriminalization of not only peyote but also mescaline? - Maybe you’ve also heard about the DEA settlement hearing on the case of the Church of the Eagle and the Condor in Arizona.. but do you also know about the recent Pronouncment letter signed collectively from the Shipbo and Indigenous organizations announcing the rejection and calling out appropriation in regards to Ayahuasca medicine? (I have a copy of this letter but if anyone else knows where this is being spoken about, please chime in. This would be a very unpopular opinion to those pushing for decriminalization and legalization of psychedelic medicine.) This is why we need to start listening to Indigenous perspectives and I invite you to lean in on these conversations. What I’m seeing is that Indigenous people are pushing back and rejecting the rapid pace of capitalism-driven legalization of entheogenic plants in the US. We must let the original and ancestral stewards of these sacred medicines lead the way here or we repeat history with colonizing these medicines and Indigenous ways of life under the guise of “these medicines belong to everyone and everyone needs access to these medicines to heal.”
Hope you can join us. RVSP today
