The PREDICT-6G consortium has held its first plenary meeting of 2024 💫. It has been a very productive day to review the status of the most technical Work Packages (WP), such as WP2 [Multi-domain Multi-technology Data Plane (MDP)], and WP3 [AI-driven Inter-domain Multi-party Control Plane (AICP)], and to plan the project's presence at major 6G and network conferences and forums in 2024. ➡ In addition, special attention has been given to the preparation of the review meeting, one of the major PREDICT-6G dates for the first half of the year. As we continue to explore the frontiers of 6G technology, collaboration remains the key to our success. #PREDICT6G #6GTechnology #HorizonEurope

The Accelerating RAN Intelligence in 5G (ARI-5G) Consortium, led by TIP in collaboration with partners, has achieved significant success in implementing, testing, and demonstrating a standards-based RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) platform. This accomplishment includes developing and validating specific software solutions, such as xAPPs and rAPPs. The project seamlessly builds upon the ongoing activities of TIP's RAN Intelligence and Automation (RIA) Subgroup, leveraging the Subgroup's prioritized use cases to enhance the overall efficacy of 5G networks. Notably, the project received funding of £2.4 million from the UK government Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology, underscoring the importance of advancing 5G capabilities. The successful conclusion of this initiative marks a significant milestone, showcasing remarkable results and advancements in the field of RAN intelligence within the 5G ecosystem.

Glad to share a white paper written by ABI Research's Dimitris Mavrakis, exploring the concept of #resilient networks in #6G. This is a topic we'll be digging into with the US DoD at the upcoming #6GSymposium in a few week's time (focus will be scoping, gap analysis and measurement), so it's great to have this as an input. to download, and https://lnkd.in/exJrbY5E to attend.

This paper examines how to best choose between #5G #New #Radio (#NR) and #WiFi networks to maximize overall network throughput, while meeting requirements on how often important users can connect and how often less important users are sent to WiFi. A #Constrained #Markov #Decision #Process (#CMDP) is formulated accounting for how the network changes over time in random ways. The authors also develop some practical methods for choosing the network connection on the fly. These online heuristics can be used even without knowing the precise patterns of how the network will behave over time. ---- Arghyadip Roy More details can be found at this link: https://lnkd.in/g93JgA_n

Intermittency poses a significant challenge within the wireless THz line-of-sight (LOS) channel, while non-line-of-sight (NLOS) components suffer from weakened signals due to severe path loss at these high frequencies. In our recent collaborative work with Yasemin Karacora and Adam Umra titled "Intermittency versus Path Loss in RIS-aided THz Communication: A Data Significance Approach" (https://lnkd.in/ecJt_wgN), we introduce a novel strategy leveraging reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) to bolster the quality of NLOS links. Additionally, we advocate for a mixed criticality data processing methodology, aiming to efficiently allocate resources while ensuring the required Quality of Service (QoS) amidst intermittent connectivity. The results are going to be presented at the ICC 2024 (https://lnkd.in/ehTAMqvq).
