Last week, Frans Folkvord, Justine Fleur van der Feen and Nick Dietrich attended the first in-person meeting with the SANGUINE consortium. Many thanks to the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens for hosting the meeting in Athens in such a successful and warm manner. Aligned with the #CancerMission's objectives—understanding, prevention, diagnosis, and improving quality of life—the SANGUINE Project focuses on the development of an innovative minimally-invasive test for the early detection of blood cancer. In this project, PredictBy is focusing on the societal aspects, particularly the design and execution of a co-creation process involving various stakeholders. This process aims to assess the needs of healthcare providers and patients, thereby enhancing clear communication and informed decision-making in the early detection pathway. Next, we support all the pilots in conducting the cost-effectiveness analyses to show the impact of the outcomes of the project on society and healthcare delivery. During the meeting, the consortium discussed significant progress, valuable updates, and the next steps for the project. We want to thank all consortium partners for their contributions, and we are looking forward to the upcoming activities and to the broader impact the project aims to achieve in advancing cancer prevention and early detection. #EUCancerMission #HorizonEurope #Prevention #Earlydetection

FHIR is already instrumental in stopping the 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘱𝘺𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘱* 🖨️ In the Netherlands alone we're spending probably 200FTE on manually retyping data from the EHR into the formats required for different (quality) registries. 🧩 A unified format, that most healthcare providers are already implementing anyway, will lower the barrier of data delivery and opens the door for higher quality data and realtime insights. Join our webinar in January with IKNL's Melle Sieswerda and Firely's Rien Wertheim to learn more ↓ * 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑝𝑦𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑝 is a unregistered trademark by Rob Mulders #FHIR #Registry #SecondaryUse #Healthcare #Fax
Join us for an insightful webinar on “Unlocking the Potential of FHIR for Registries” in collaboration with the Netherlands Cancer Registry (IKNL (Integraal Kankercentrum Nederland)). Date & Time: Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 11:00 to 12:00 CET. What to Expect: ✅ Innovative Data Collection: Learn how IKNL utilizes FHIR to streamline data collection from Electronic Health Records, enhancing data accuracy and availability for cancer research. ✅ Expert Insights: Hear from Melle Sieswerda, CMIO at IKNL & Rien Wertheim, CEO at Firely, on the latest FHIR developments and practical applications for quality registries. Antje Niedostatek, the Regional Office Director Dresden at the Krebsregister Sachsen gGmbH, will share the direction of collaborating German cancer registries towards electronic data exchange. ✅ Interactive Q&A: Engage with our experts during a live discussion and Q&A session. 🔬 We need to do research today to find tomorrow’s solutions. Colorectal cancer cases are on the rise, particularly after the age of 50, but we’re also seeing an alarming increase among younger individuals. Early detection is critical to improving survival rates and preventing the onset of cancer. That’s where the FLAME project comes in. By utilizing advanced technologies, FLAME detects inflammation and dysbiosis in the colon through non-invasive blood and stool samples. This is crucial, as having the right tools to catch the "flame" early—much like spotting the heat of a match before it burns your finger—can lead to timely interventions. More sensitive and specific tests are needed to identify pre-lesions that could be addressed through lifestyle changes or further analyzed for deeper insights. Let’s push forward in our research to create these life-saving solutions. Patient samples were collected successfully and the first batch of samples were fully analysed. Other project proposals are submitted aiming to implement research in the community. Keep tuned. The FLAME project is financed by ALIVE Foundation through the Research and Innovation Development Trust at the University of Malta. #CancerResearch #ColorectalCancer #EarlyDetection #FLAMEProject #HealthcareInnovation #PreventiveMedicine

The President's Cancer Panel, which oversees the #NationalCancerPlan, has released a report exploring the most effective ways to achieve Cancer Care equity through technology. It concludes that “tech, when responsibly used, holds promise to extend the reach of navigation resources to empower patients and enable navigators and other care team members to work more efficiently so they can focus on the most important part of their jobs—directly caring for their patients.” As the appetite for digital rockets and the market adjusts to create fertile ground for adoption, ensuring technology addresses key issues the Cancer sector faces is crucial for success. Built correctly and with intimate knowledge of clinical teams' needs, technology can augment their care and help to triage resources for those who need them most, regardless of geography. Careology is already built to enhance patient navigation with its technology and already improving equity in Cancer Care across the country - in line with the President's Cancer Panel’s report.
