Last Friday, the world’s greatest sporting event kicked off: the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, drawing viewers from across the globe. 🌍 However, it's crucial to learn from past mistakes. According to Reuters, over 4,000 meals went uneaten during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, resulting in significant food waste. This year, the organizing committee has pledged to eliminate such excess. Food waste is an issue that we have to tackle in every aspect of our lives. At PREFE, we want to play a role in that by reducing food waste in consumers' homes, leading to a more sustainable future. 🛒🌱 #Paris2024 #Olympics #Sustainability #FoodWaste #PREFE

Placing a monetary value on sustainability
Does placing a monetary value on sustainability work? At the Paris Olympics, a well-known coffee chain has placed a €2 charge on cups. It's interesting to note that these cups have not been seen in bins or as litter; instead, they are being reused for water, with a queue of people returning the cups. A valuable lesson to be learned. Thoughts? #sustainability #ParisOlympics #environmentalimpact #sixbutterflies

You don't only need kites for Makar Sankranti, but way more items than that. Are you all set to celebrate Makar Sankranti? But wait, we have a new idea for you. This year, instead of just celebrating with traditional practices as you usually do, change your methods a bit. Here are some eco-friendly practices for Makar Sankranti celebrations: 1. Bonfire Materials ➡️ Traditional Practice: burning wood and other non-environmentally friendly materials. ☑️ Sustainable Alternative: Instead of traditional bonfires, consider using eco-friendly fuel alternatives like compressed natural gas (CNG) or clean-burning fuels. Host a gathering around energy-efficient heaters or use LED candles to create a warm atmosphere without causing air pollution. 2. Noise Pollution ➡️ Traditional Practice: Bursting firecrackers and loud music, contributing to noise pollution. ☑️ Sustainable Alternative: Organise eco-friendly events with acoustic music, cultural performances, and community gatherings that do not involve loud noises. Encourage attendees to celebrate with kites and traditional games, creating a festive atmosphere without causing harm to the environment. 3. Responsible Disposal of Leftovers ➡️ Traditional Practice: Wasteful disposal of food and other materials by throwing it away ☑️ Sustainable Alternative: But this year how about we transform our kitchen leftovers into something amazing? Let’s do composting! Instead of binning those banana peels and veggie scraps, toss them into a compost bin. Also, leftover food can be donated to local charities or shared among attendees to minimise food waste. Small changes, these small changes from your end can save the environment. So enjoy Makar Sankranti while respecting and preserving our planet. What are your plans for Makar Sankranti in 2024? We would love to know them. P.S. Avoid using Chinese threads for your kites, go for local options instead. #sustainability #makarsankranti2024 #festivalsofindia #festiveseason #festivalofkites

🌍🏌️♂️ Sustainable Golf: A circular choice made in Denmark. 🏌️♀️🌿 One tee may not make a difference, but when your club or company is buying multiple tees, then you can actually be part of a positive difference and your choice of tee can impact the environment? Our tee is made in Denmark from biomaterials and upcycled coffee waste, supporting circular economy principles. By using locally sourced waste materials, we reduce landfill and cut down on the carbon footprint associated with production. The tees are compostable, leaving no harmful residues behind, such as microplastics etc, making them truly eco-friendly. By choosing a golf tee made from upcycled materials like coffee waste in Europe, you're not only supporting sustainable local production but also reducing the risks of deforestation and chemical pollution. A tee is a small change, but can make a big difference on the course—and for the planet. 🌱. 🌿 Celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi the Eco-Friendly Way! 🌿 As we embrace Ganesh Chaturthi this year, we decided to take a sustainable approach by creating an eco-friendly Ganpati idol made entirely from wheat flour! 🌾 While the school initially requested a clay idol, we wanted to go a step further and innovate with an environmentally conscious alternative. Our wheat flour idol is not only biodegradable, but after immersion (visarjan), it provides food for fish, dissolving naturally and contributing to a cleaner, healthier environment. 🐟🌊 This initiative aligns with our belief in celebrating festivals with respect for nature. It's a small step towards reducing pollution and promoting sustainability during cultural celebrations. Let’s spread awareness, celebrate mindfully, and honor both Lord Ganesha and our planet. 🌱💧 Together, we can make a difference by choosing eco-friendly practices. 🙏💚 #EcoFriendlyGanpati #SustainableFestivals #GreenGaneshChaturthi #CelebrateResponsibly #GaneshChaturthi2024 #EnvironmentFirst #CircularEconomy
