On Dec 18, with 100+ of our Sanofi CHC Growth Hub team, we had a very unusual work session. We talked Humor, Seriously. I came across the talented Jennifer Aaker and Naomi Bagdonas , who teach this class at Stanford graduate school of business , and was immediately convinced . For context, in my CXA global marketing capability team, we take outcomes very seriously..  we drive the most advanced analytics programs, we crazy elevate creativity, we drive responsible media like noone else, we accelerate our data capital at the speed of light, are obsessed with consumer’s taking their health in their hands, advise marketers on how to make brand love contagious,  and have raving mad AI ambitions..  So here is the Sherlock Holmes question: what do very serious bold ambitions have to do with humor? Humor is both the symptom of an environment where it is safe to be bold, and a key enabler of this boldness (read this latest sentence twice, it is the most important one of the whole block of text). Why? Because it is scientifically proven that humor at works drives performance: increases persuasion, creativity, resilience, team outcomes. Because humor at works cuts across Cultural differences.. Thanks to Naomi and Jen, we learnt how much this is NOT about being funny (nope, sorry for the heavy jokes lovers)…. but about balancing gravity and levity. We learnt how much everyone can know, muscle up and develop their own humour style.. how small things like playing with your email signature can make a difference .. We learned techniques from stand up comedians: starting with the truth, exaggerating the truth, playing with contrasts, shortening our stories to 7 words.. SO IF I HAVE ONE ADVISE FOR YOU IN 2024, gogogo and take humor seriously.. I throw in my petfrog you won’t regret it! PS1: so grateful to work in a Sanofi CHC environment where leaders like Julie Van Ongevalle and the CLT take business seriously but never take themselves too seriously.. with my amazing colleagues from the Growth Hub LT and my beloved CXA team, it gives us wings.. 🌟 I had the unexpected honor of being invited to an additional panel discussion in Basel, dedicated to artificial intelligence and automation in pharmacovigilance. Marking my debut panel appearance, I must admit I was a bit nervous initially, sharing the stage with top executives from giants like Roche (Lisa Stagi), Sandoz (Finn B. Larsen), Philip Morris International (Nikolina Nuic), and PharSafer Associates Ltd (Graeme Ladds). However, as soon as I started speaking, the nerves faded away. The respect and professionalism here are palpable. 💬 The discussion was incredibly friendly yet profoundly insightful! What struck me the most was the rapid pace at which the pharmaceutical industry is adapting. Just a year ago, many said, "We're not too keen on implementing AI and technologies in regulatory processes; everything's working fine." Now, the tune has changed to "We're ready to embrace it all, lets start!" 🚀 The landscape is evolving: new players, new companies, our new competitors. It's exhilarating because it signifies market growth, and it reassures us that our efforts to bring innovation to the world of pharmacovigilance are truly impactful. 🤝 Being part of such panels is exhilarating, and I'm immensely grateful for the support and invigorating brainstorming sessions with Rostyslav Siarkevych! It's an honor to collaborate and contribute at this conference. 👏 And of course, a huge thanks to the entire DrugCards team – you are incredible! The "Mobilizing Health Networks: Community, Patient, HCPs, & Parliamentary Coalitions" panel, which took place at the #AGHE Summit in #Davos on January 16, 2024, offered invaluable insights for fostering sustainable health initiatives, especially in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
