Your company may be losing thousands of dollars without you knowing it ⬇️ You care about user privacy and security, so you've implemented SMS as a two-factor authentication channel. Well done! 👏 However, SMS Pumping (or SMS Toll Fraud) is a new threat quietly draining your resources. SMS Pumping is a fraud scheme where scammers exploit SMS delivery systems to create false traffic and inflate charges. This fraud impacts businesses in several ways: 💸 Paying for every OTP, leading to fraudulent bills in thousands or millions. 📉 Inflated user bases with fake users that never convert, reducing conversion rates and increasing costs. 🤯 Fake traffic surges can cause system crashes or downtime, affecting real user experiences. 🚫 Blocking entire regions or countries to stop fraudsters impacts real users, slowing down your growth. But don't worry! SMS Pumping isn't inevitable and can be managed with the right tools. In a future post, we'll explore how to detect and prevent this fraud in your company. ✊ #UserVerification #DigitalSecurity #FraudPrevention

⚠️ Stay Alert! QR codes are convenient, but they can easily be faked to trick you into giving up sensitive information or sending payments to scammers. Always DoubleCheck where a QR code is directing you—especially if it's for payments or personal info. In a recent case, someone lost a substantial amount of $$ after scanning a fraudulent parking QR code. ✔️ Here's how to stay safe: - Always check the URL after scanning. - If anything looks suspicious, don’t proceed. - Ensure your devices have proper security protections in place. Stay safe and secure online! 💻
QR codes have become a popular, convenient way to make payments, but they also open the door to scams. This was seen in a recent incident where someone lost €1,000 after scanning a QR code for parking, which redirected to a fraudulent payment page. Scammers can easily place fake QR codes over legitimate ones, tricking users into entering sensitive information or making unauthorized payments. QR codes are handy, but super easy to fake. I'm of the opinion that they're so risky, we should just avoid them altogether. Just search the keywords on advertisement, skip the QR.

Important security tip! QR codes are everywhere. I specifically set my default mobile browser to a privacy focused, ad blocked, and locked down app I rarely use for day-to-day browsing to minimize data leakage.

Beware of QR Code Scams! QR codes can sometimes lead to malicious websites, so always double-check the URL before proceeding. Scammers may use them to direct you to phishing sites. Ensure the site has a valid certificate (HTTPS) to protect yourself from potential threats. Additionally, be careful when sharing photos with QR codes. They may contain sensitive data that you might unintentionally expose. Always think twice before sharing images that include them, especially in public forums. Stay informed and protect your online security!
