If you work in Hospitality, it's crucial to cater to all your customers, including those who are over 6’1”. Ensuring this growing segment of your market feels appreciated is key. Here are the top five pet peeves for tall individuals to keep in mind: - Low Shower Heads - Short beds, especially with a footboard - Low mirrors and doors - Limited legroom under tables - Low-hanging doors Additionally, be mindful of hazards - low hanging ceiling fans!! I make creating and managing standards doable and enjoyable. Hotelier and business owner focused on helping businesses improve their customer engagement and service culture.
I’ve found the best moments in hospitality are the ones where genuine thought and care are subtlety offered. 🥰 I don’t think hospitality is primarily found in the big gestures - but in the small touches that show thought and care. It’s through the standards of care and set up that our industry reaches the hearts of our guests. ♥️ For me - I feel most cared for when I see an area perfectly staged for a guest or a special touch that is clearly the result of a thought-out process. When I see #thoughtfulness and care in action I know hospitality abounds. As an example - I recently retuned to my room at the Little Nell in #Aspen and was impressed at the way I was invited to slow down and sit by fire - such a touch of hospitality - felt through design, #housekeeping staging, and quality products. As you move through the week - what element in your operation could use some additional thought. 🤔 What do you want the experience to be? What should the guest feel in that interaction? I encourage you to think through an interaction or an area and make meaningful adjustments to enhance the hospitality! #Hospitality is inviting and welcoming. It encourages you to take time and settle in.

In my interview with Norman K. from MakeUpMyRoom he said we often joke that our system can become quite addictive for managers, as it offers real-time access to crucial data about room status, even from home. With just a quick glance at their phones, managers can see how many rooms are vacant, dirty, or occupied without needing to make a single call. This instant access allows experienced managers to gauge the day’s operations and make informed decisions. For Area General Managers overseeing multiple properties, the system is particularly useful; they can log in while on the go—like at the airport—and immediately see if there’s an issue, such as a high percentage of dirty rooms at a critical time, prompting them to take action if necessary. The integration with the PMS ensures that all data is live and accurate, providing a true reflection of the hotel's current status. A gripe about hotels? Everybody's got one. Jo Ellison's witty piece in HTSI this weekend and the lengthy comments section online are free feedback for the industry (including on feedback surveys...). Also a salutary reminder of why the hotel industry is about so much more than real estate. Brands assess and seek to address these issues all the time, so my sense is that there's still a great communications opportunity for those who have invested in the design and operational issues and do actually get it right a lot of the time. That said, there's a certain consistency to the comments that means that there's a lot of work to be done across the estate to address basic needs.
