The relationship between patient and primary care provider is at the very foundation of our healthcare system. But accessing primary care is often more difficult than it needs to be. That's why Dr. Steve Jacobson, Medical Director for Premera, was in Olympia today to join Washington State Health Care Authority, providers, healthcare organizations, and payers from across the state in signing a memorandum of understanding aimed at easing administrative burdens and aligning on policies that support Washington's primary care providers. Alongside our partners in the Washington Multi-payer Collaborative, we will be working to make Washington a better place for primary care providers to practice by implementing changes that let them spend more time with patients and less time with paperwork. #healthcarepolicy #primarycare #primarycareproviders

Value-based care has undoubtedly changed healthcare. Miriam Sznycer-Taub and Daniel Kuzmanovich pointed out in a recent article that "Successful VBC requires some change to physician practice — but we'd argue that those changes aren't limiting short-term access to primary care." Some may argue that VBC is the cause of difficulty seeing primary care physicians, but in reality, other factors also play significant roles in shaping the challenges faced in primary care. #ValueBasedCare #VBC #Healthcare
