Preventive maintenance is paramount to having a smoothly run machine shop. 👌 Scheduled maintenance helps ensure that customers get their parts when promised. Maintenance can be difficult when the shop is busy, but at least when it is on the schedule you can advise your customer more accurately on when parts will be delivered. Think of how many times a shop has been unable to deliver because of a breakdown due to poor (or lack of) maintenance practices. The prior advice on duplicate machinery helps alleviate breakdowns, but many shops will take a while to have duplicate equipment when starting out. The most common issue with industrial machineries, is lack of periodic maintenance. More the mechanicals, more chances of breakdown due to lack of proper maintenance. Here are some basis points to check regularly to minimize breakdown time. 1 - Identify the most running parts and and its life cycle, you have to put them as spared in your store. 2 - Refer to the OEM guidelines for periodic maintenance cycle, along with the list consumables products. 3 - Give ownership of system to maximum of 2-3 people who are aware of the head to toe functioning of system. By practicing above things, once can minimize the downtime and maximize the efficiency and durability of the machines.

Demo Scenario: Pump Production in Plant 1000 Demonstration example, production with production orders: In plant 1000, pumps and their assemblies (casing, shafts, etc.) are produced. Final assembly, pre-assembly, and assembly production take place in storage and, optionally, as make-to-order production. Production is organized according to the shop floor principle. The individual parts for assembly production are transferred by picking or via material staging lists from the material storage into production. During confirmation of the assembly, the stock receipt of the assembly is posted directly to the storage location, which is assigned to the final assembly production line. Components for final assembly that are not produced on the assembly production lines are transferred via the material staging list from material storage.
