🌟 For International Women's Day 2024, we want to highlight the incredible women who work here at Support Warehouse. Meet Shauna, our proud sponsored member from our Finance Team who currently plays for the Women’s Warrington Wolves rugby team. We asked Shauna some questions about her experiences being a woman in rugby and how it has impacted her life. When asked about the level of support and investment in women's sports compared to men's sports, Shauna remarked, “The investment into women’s sports has definitely gained momentum. This year, in particular, I’ve noticed a fantastic surge in clubs backing women’s sports. It’s an exciting time to be involved!” Shauna also highlighted the impact of increased visibility and coverage of women's sports on younger generations, stating, “The Challenge Cup semi-finals and finals have significantly boosted the visibility of the sport, reaching audiences worldwide. Viewing our sport on platforms like Sky is incredibly positive and demonstrates to younger generations that rugby league can be a career, not just a hobby!” Although progress is being made in the exposure and investment of women’s sports teams, there is still a long way to go to ensure that every athlete, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities to succeed. #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2024 #WomenInSports #GenderEquality #DiversityAndInclusion

This is a great report from Ministry Of Sport and there is a lot we can all do to advocate for increase investment in women sport and women athletes. What we are noticing however is some brands are challenged with the "why" & the "how" to invest. There have been some amazing stories over the first 10+ days of the Paris Olympic Games, but none is bigger than the performance by the women of Team USA. Of the 79 medals won by Team USA so far, 49 (62%) have been won by individual women, women's teams, or mixed teams of women and men. Of Team USA's 21 gold medals, this group has accounted for 14 (67%). Digging deeper into the numbers, if the women of Team USA were their own country, they would be third in the overall and gold medal count. 👉 Medal Count - https://lnkd.in/gGQW6wsg Just two years removed from the 50th anniversary of Title IX the women of Team USA have certainly lived up to the mantra of the Women's Sports Foundation's 50th anniversary report, "We're not done yet." Women's sports have gained significant attention and new corporate support over the past year 👏 , but there remains a massive inequality in funding, especially at the youth and developmental levels between boys and girls sport programs. With the performance in Paris this summer, hopefully that gap will continue to close! 👉 Why should you support women's sports? https://lnkd.in/enCpWBuV #Womenofteamusa #Paris #werenotdoneyet #supportwomenssports

The partnership between Johnnie Walker, a Scotch whisky brand, and Hannah Waddingham exemplifies best practices of how brands are getting involved in women’s sports and the power of collaborations in promoting gender equality in sports. 📢 Campaign Message: "Watch Women's Sports" 🎯 Partnership Objective: • Amplify the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the largest standalone women’s sporting event globally • Addressing the media coverage disparity: despite women comprising over 40% of athletes, women’s sports receive less than 10% of total sports news coverage - now 15% post-2023 🤝 Collaborative Outreach: • Through the “Match Day Memos." Johnnie Walker broadened the campaign's impact by partnering with organizations committed to gender equality: Women's Sports Foundation, Just Women's Sports, and Hello Sunshine 🏆 Dedication & Commitment: • Building on the momentum from Johnnie Walker’s 2022 "First Strides" campaign, this initiative amplifies its commitment to pioneering cultural shifts and championing equality. • Johnnie Walker's support also extends to Angel City Football Club and NJ/NY Gotham FC. The campaign showcases how brands like Johnnie Walker can champion gender equality in sports, elevating the visibility, support, and appreciation for women's sports on a global scale. #WomensInSports #WatchWomensSports #BrandPartnerships 🎥 Watch the campaign: https://lnkd.in/gRP5z3kX

⚽️🏆 The countdown to the 24/25 Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship season has begun! With the Women's Professional Game now independently running the leagues, I am excited about the positive changes ahead for women's football. Expect new broadcast deals, increased brand and sponsorship opportunities, and enhanced club guidance. 📈 Exciting developments are already underway. London City Lionesses under Michele Kang's ownership, introduced Swedish captain Kosovare Asllani as a new signing, alongside Jocelyn Precheur as the team's new manager. The club is also investing in a new training ground and home stadium. 🚩 In contrast, some clubs are moving in the wrong direction. Manchester United's decision to prioritise the Men's team over the Women's by relocating them from their training facilities is disheartening. It's crucial to highlight such disparities in support for women's football, sending a negative message to aspiring young female players worldwide. Let's amplify this conversation to ensure equitable treatment across all clubs and support the growth of women's football. It’s time to advocate for equal opportunities and resources for women in sports. #WomenInFootball #EqualityInSports

Wonderful to have a whole hour to explore the media coverage of women's sport, and the systems that enable and inhibit it. Who better to do that with than Richelle Hunt, Sarah Styles, & Clare Hanlon on Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)'s The Conversation Hour? If you're keen to understand the opportunity that exists for the sport ecosystem to enhance our communities through story telling, give it a listen.
Great to join Richelle Hunt on ABC Radio’s The Conversation Hour yesterday, discussing the impact of the #MediaGap alongside Chyloe Kurdas and Clare Hanlon. Only 15% of sports news available in Victoria focused on women’s sports in the year leading up to last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, impacting the ability to deliver equality in sport and beyond.

Women and girls still face too many barriers to participating in sport, resulting in a persistent gender gap in participation. The Health Barriers to Girls and Women in Sport report, published by the Women and Equalities Select Committee, states “The particular challenges faced by girls to sports participation arise from a combination of gender stereotypes that promote the very outdated notion that sport is a predominately male sphere. In addition, there are health and wellbeing issues experienced only, or predominately, by girls." Key Takeaways from our event: "More visibility for women in football on the road to UEFA Women's EURO 2025!" ⚽ We’ve come a long way since the 1950s, when it was forbidden for women and girls to play football in clubs in Switzerland. Over the following 40 years, the sport has undergone significant changes regarding gender inclusivity. By the 1990s, the first international professional women's teams were competing at world championships. Since then, the growth has continued, highlighted by the audience for women's football doubling between 2017 and 2022, with another boom expected. A big part of this growth has been due to media coverage. As we always say: media shapes reality. But it is not just on the media! Everyone — especially each and every fan — needs to promote women's football and its visibility to make a real change. 💪 So if you’d like to be a #fan of the UEFA Women's EURO 2025, you can already register for tickets! 🎫 Emanuel Gisi, Sandra Plaza, Doris Keller, Fabienne Humm, Lara Dickenmann, Corine Turrini Flury, Lea Eberle, Elsa Reichling, Blick, FCZ snc, GCZ, Kanton Zürich Sportamt, Ringier, Ringier Medien Schweiz #WEURO25 #WomenInFootball #VisibilityMatters #EqualVoice
