How do I know if I did it right? I've been doing this for 25 years. Still, sometimes the camera doesn't lie. We have an outtake that leads to this video that we will probably post in a week or so. However, joining two layers of 18gauge metal, I was surprised by how well it did. Maybe that will happen to you sometime. We can complete formal testing for you to have a solid understanding of a good clinch and the tooling and settings needed. "I just need a quick Rule of Thumb here" So you have no tools, no measuring instruments. You have a deadline to get parts done and you have your handy Press Lock clinching machine and some 18 gauge steel. This is not a structural connection, obviously. If it were you would have go / no go gauges and clear work instructions for pass fail. This is a sheet metal part that needs to be held together well.
