Fuhs talks about what should and what should not be in pitches to the media, why photos and visuals are important to be included, how time is of the essence for some stories, how to be a facilitator and not a gatekeeper, and why media want to talk to the 'big cheese' for stories. Communications Specialist. I am a creative storyteller, using every available platform to tell your story. Get in touch.
Understanding deadlines and how to manage your messaging to the media on behalf of your clients. I worked as a sports presenter and analyst in the radio and television media space, for about five years. The experience I gained during this time has helped shape my approach to pitching stories and understanding what it is like on the other side of the lens and microphone. Here are five things that I learnt from that time: 1. Never despise the power of local-centric news media - Local is Lekker! 2. Make sure you know the news cycles and deadlines of broadcast media especially if you have to coordinate schedules of both media publication and your client. 3. Send a detailed brief for your client, the producer(s), and the presenter(s) of the publication or show you landed an interview with. 4. If you can always opt for an in-the-studio interview, it gives your client (or the content character) the freedom and opportunity to engage with the producer and presenter(s) off-air, which will solidify a relationship between the brand and the media. This will help future press releases land in the right inbox. 5. Follow up the interview with a thank-you email, try to get the clipping of the coverage, and make sure you remain on the radar by sharing future events or newsy events happening in the industry or beat you covered. #AllWordsMatter

Reputation management for companies providing the Law Enforcement, Public Safety, Physical Security, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Intelligence, and ERM sectors with services and solutions.
Happy New Year! 2023 was a phenomenally successful year for our #clients. We achieved 66 issues-based #mediainterviews for one client with five interviews alone on Fox News including Fox and Friends (twice), America’s Newsroom with Bill Hemmer, and Lawrence Jones Cross Country. We were also successful on NPR, NewsNation, Newsmax, The Epoch Times, New York Post, and on numerous regional radio and TV stations, as well as networks in Canada and as far afield as South Korea. All clients received front page article and interview coverage in key regional news outlets, trade publications, blogs, and podcasts. We launched new #companies, groundbreaking #solutions, advised not-for-profit companies, profiled #athletes, built additional relationships with the most powerful media outlets and their #reporters and #producers, and developed news angles that have received nationwide coverage. What drove our success? 🔎 Our core focus in the #publicsafety, #physicalsecurity, #homelandsecurity, #enterpriseriskmanagement, and #intelligence sectors. 📰 The ability to understand current #news and events at the local, regional, national, and international level and reach key decision-makers in the media. 🗣 Our expertise in positioning our clients’ #spokespeople as subject matter experts on current and developing issues and events that the media are covering, resulting in earned #broadcast, print, and online interviews and articles. 📣 Our knowledge of how to build and maintain the momentum in a PR campaign where a client cannot mention the names of their clients in the media. 💯 Above all, we added value by focusing on our clients’ satisfaction, the needs of the media, and a core belief in the importance of delivering excellent results to enhance our client partnerships. Our success in 2024 will be built on our great achievements of 2023. How can we help you? Photo by Joshua Earle on Unsplash.

Answer When the Media Knocks! 🚪🎥🎙️ Everyone likes to talk about how to land media gigs, but as a publicist I’ve seen less of a focus on how to respond when opportunities come your way. Even if the fit isn’t perfect or the timing isn’t just right, showing up and sharing your expertise can be a game-changer. 🔑 Embrace every chance to get your message out there – it’s almost always a winning strategy! #mediarelations #media #publicist #pragency #justshowup

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have been making Bad Boys movies for 30 years.. And are also some of the most well known actors of our time And yet for this newest movie release.. they are still doing dozens of interviews and executing a full PR run in the media And then there’s you.. only posting about your brand once and assuming everyone knows who you are🤔 Every day you wake up to market your business.. act like you are getting in front of a brand new audience There’s no such thing as too much marketing credit: @sierra nicole #Marketing #digitalmarketing #tech

Want top-tier #media coverage from your #PRagency? Awesome. Aim high. You might get it. But in the meantime... there's a LOT of media outlets out there that can help you build your brand (and your #PR agency can leverage those wins to get the biggest hits).
In #PR, there's a mindset among some clients that I call "New York Times or nuthin'!" Basically, their idea is that there's maybe only 2 or 3 news outlets on the planet that matter (Usually, they'll mention the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, etc). And they think that if they don't get quoted or featured in those outlets, the #PRagency hasn't done its job. Let me try to change your mind a bit. Maybe it's actually an awesome idea to reach out to a broader range of media outlets. You want top-tier coverage? Keep in mind that journalists read other journalists' stuff. Reporters are constantly checking their own news sources to get ideas for stories. So "news makes news." This week, a Wall Street Journal reporter reached out to a client after we got the company several hits in one week in the same business news outlet. The WSJ journalist wanted to run a story on a similar topic. That's the kind of result we love. (Want to see what #tech and #business #news outlets are looking for experts right now? Don’t underestimate the power of your news stories. News is important because it sends out multiple messages and delivers on a variety of levels. While it’s always nice when your industry mag supports your efforts, news can play a strategic role in your external comms. It’s a useful mechanism to let your audience know you are dynamic, and achieving things. Winning things. Part of the game, competing and creating a valuable business. News conveys to your staff that they are part of something successful, recognised and to be celebrated. It can generate feelings of loyalty and pride. Motivating and encouraging. News can serve to validate your customers’ decision to entrust their brands to your care. And, a positive headline can encourage your potential customers to join your happy band. How do you use your news? #PublicRelations #New #Winning #TechPR #GlobalBrands
