HILTI Fan Story - Final stage At the end of the entire interview process, I was supposed to meet with a top manager, VP Sales Tomas Trocil, in this particular case. As my potential position was not of great importance and didn’t imply high business risk, this meeting was a kind of formal part of the process. Tomas asked me a couple of questions about my desire to work for HILTI and about my personal interests outside work. However, what he was really wondering about was why I chose the position of CS specialist instead of Sales representative. I must mention that during my job search, I applied for two positions at HILTI: CS specialist and Sales representative. The only reply I got was about the CS rep position, so neither the HR manager nor the Sales manager offered me the opportunity to discuss the other possibility. Besides, I had my own reasons why I didn’t want to return to sales, and they are: 1. Even though my previous sales experience was successful in terms of sales results, it negatively affected the relationships between sales managers and sales staff, as the focus was solely on achieving sales targets without consideration for the well-being of the team or their working conditions. I developed a kind of bias about sales in general and thought that all sales teams preached the same or similar approach. 2. I strongly believe that a successful salesman must possess strong knowledge of the products and services they sell, and the best way to obtain that knowledge and required experience is to work for a while within the company. The CS position could ideally fulfill this task and cover this need. After my explanation, Tomas reluctantly agreed, and we shook hands. That’s how I joined the company and started my journey at HILTI. #hilti #whereyourbestbelong #equity #inclusion #development #leadership #continuousimprovement #bestplacetowork #corporateculture #professionalcommunity #hrcommunity #employeeexperience #workculture #talentacquisition #employeeengagement #teamwork #management #topmanagement #sourceandselect #landingajob #interviewtips #interviewquestions

Asking for a Degree for a sales job... really?? There are very few scenerios in which I can get my head around a degree 'requirement' for sales roles. It may be a preference in some cases, especially more junior positions where the experience isn't there yet, but if there is a super relevant candidate who you WON'T even consider due to having no degree then you really are at risk of failing your duty to hire the best people for the job. Its moronic. Its outdated. Its counterproductive. It's far better to consider a candidates fit based on their skills, attitude, industry knowledge, and track record in my opinion. Do you agree?

Senior Territory Sales Manager at GRASIM INDUSTRIES LIMITED, Birla Opus, Birla Paints Division || Ex Berger paints DSO
Here are some signs that you might want to consider quitting your job as a sales manager: * Misalignment with company goals or sales strategy: If you don't believe in the product or service you're selling, or if you disagree with the company's sales tactics, it can be demotivating and lead to frustration. * Lack of growth opportunities: If there's no clear path for advancement within the company, you might stagnate in your career. * Poor management: A micromanaging boss or one who doesn't provide support can make your job difficult and stressful. * High turnover among sales reps: If your team is constantly losing salespeople, it can be a sign of a toxic work environment or unrealistic sales goals. * Compensation and benefits not meeting expectations: If you're not being fairly compensated for your work, it can be time to look for a new opportunity.
