When you are complaining about trivial things in your life, watch this
I can’t believe I waited 7 years to visit beautiful Mexico!! I can say with confidence that we will be back soon! What a week!! As I sit here enjoying my last few hours before boarding a plane back home I have to share an amazing experience from my view! STORYTIME: Friday we spent the day in Bucerias Mexico having some authentic Mexican cuisine & visiting my family who’s here for a month! After dinner & a few drinks we headed to watch the sunset! For those that know me know I don’t like being in the water (I have a fear of drowning) but I wanted to touch the ocean for the FIRST TIME EVER!!! As my feet hit the sand with the help of my uncle & Jenn it felt strange but amazing at the same time! It tickled & as I giggled my way to my fear I finally hit water! With some of the most influential people on either side of me & tears in my eyes I fucking did it! For just a few moments I was 1 with the ocean! WHAT A MOMENT & what an incredible trip! I made memories & experiences that I will forever cherish this is what life is ALL about!! ❤️♿️ Gracias Mexico until next time amigo!! See you soon Edmonton! Enjoy the video below! Mark Korthuis Ken Gee Amin Samji Mike A. Chris Schoengut can we do this together well in Halifax!? 🙏🏻🙏🏻

"Beyond the daily grind, I believe in embracing every aspect of life's journey. Recently, I ventured into the culinary world by trying my hand at making Hakka noodles for the first time in Canada. It was a delightful experience, reminding me of the joy in trying something and creating moments of discovery outside of work. Here's to exploring new horizons, both professionally and in the kitchen! 🍜✨ #Hakkanoodles #LifeBeyondWork #CulinaryAdventures"

I'm on a mission to humanize learning spaces (online, in-person, and hybrid). LinkedIn Top Voice, Learning Experience Designer, Experiential Learning Trainer, Psychological Safety Practitioner, International Facilitator
Explaining what you do for a living is probably the most common story we tell on a daily basis. And yet, so much of our identity is wrapped into just ONE facet of our identity. 🙁 🌟 This week during a meet and greet call, a client wrapped up his introduction with a smile and said, “I also do other things - like beekeeping and raising my two kids.” 🐝 👨👧👦 🌟 Last night I learned that a colleague I’ve been working closely with on #learningexperiencedesign is also an incredible singer and performer. 🎤🎶 I was moved to tears watching and listening to this video and realizing I’ve been working every day with Yasemin Arın over the past month and never knew this talented and inspiring side of her. 🤩 Watch it here: https://lnkd.in/eCNPdUTn 👉 In fact, there are SO many aspects of people we lose out on when we don’t get curious about the multiple identities they hold. When we don’t take time to reflect on people’s ✨STORIES OF BEING✨ vs. just their stories of working. One of my favorite prompts to kick off an #online #event is “share an identity you hold outside of work” or “share an aspect of your identity most people may not know about you”. Beautifully diverse answers typically pour in, such as: ✨ doting godfather ✨ cool aunt ✨ self-proclaimed citizen of the world ✨ writer struggling with imposter syndrome, and more. At a time when we so desperately need more #humanizing working spaces, it’s a great reminder to us all to get curious and dive deeper into people’s life stories. ❣️ 💬 YOUR TURN: What’s an identity you hold outside of work? #MakeWorkHumanAgain 🧡 🧠 💸 What does that mean? 🧑🏫 Education psychology is getting this right. Kindergarteners are now getting top-shelf treatment that you SHOULD be giving your employees. 🏆 If you're a manager, get your umbrella, because the tangible results of this simple shift WILL make it rain for you. ☔ It means: Making room for ✨STORIES OF BEING✨ in the workplace. Treating your employees like ✋WHOLE PEOPLE🤚 with rich, nuanced lives. Creating 🫀humanizing, personalized 🧠 workplaces. It's simpler than it sounds - and it sounds pretty, simple, right? Basically: ➼ If you don't make space for what's *PERSONAL* inside the room where *COLLECTIVE* #learning, action, & #productivity take place...well, you're doomed. And rightfully so. 💀🤷♀️👋 The era of "the sage on the stage" is OVER in #education . Any #educator who fights that change is going the way of the dinosaur.🦕🪦 (Same for bosses. Sorry, not sorry, folx.) Why? Because educators and #instructionaldesign pros recognize the power of leveraging our brains' inherent desire to SUCCEED when reward, autonomy, and creativity are engaged. 🧠🏆✊🎨 The era of one-way communication, prioritization, and demand-making SHOULD be over in the modern workplace. 🛑 🔚 Nothing else is sustainable in the long run because it fails to acknowledge the complex, difficult, beautiful reality of ✨BEING ✨...something we all experience every hour of the day - INCLUDING the hours we're on the clock. ⏰💰 😤 Sound like too much work for you as a manager/biz owner/CEO/etc? 💲 Do you just want to make money from your employees' labor, time, and brilliance without doing any emotional labor yourself? 🏋♀️ Do you want to just shift that burden to them so you can collect your profits, equity, etc. in peace? Well..bye, Felicia. 👋🦕🪦💀📉 😂 🔁 Repost or share to boost a colleague's Friday mood 😊 🧡 or 👍 if you're a complex human laboring under capitalism

🤔 Ever wondered what sets unforgettable experiences apart? 🌟 Will Guidara nails it with his take on 'unreasonable hospitality' (see TedTalk in comments). It's not about the extravagant, but the personal touches that resonate. 🌭 Imagine serving a $2 hot dog in a high-end setting - crazy, right? But it's these moments that create lasting connections. 🤝 In the realm of sales, how we make people feel is our strongest asset. My husband embodies this philosophy, masterfully crafting experiences and evoking emotions that not only set him apart, but have also propelled him to be among the top performers in his organization. 🚀👏 In the end ,it's how we make people feel that truly counts. What are some strategies you use to create deep connections and evoke rich emotions? #SalesMagic #HospitalityBeyondLimits #MakeItMemorable #SuccessfulSales #HowtoSell

Happy Valentines Day to those that celebrate and/or recognize valentines day. My wife and I went for dinner last night and thinking about the Holiday it reminds me that as a consumer our expectations are high when it comes to the experience we expect. But how often do we think about the enviorement they are in to deliver to our expectations. Last night we were out and the atmosphere, location was amazing. Nice outdoor resturant just off the pier close to the water where you can see the boats passing into and out of the Panama canal. However the service was not great during the night my wife talked to the server to find out they were supposed to be closed yesterday (Carnivals in Panama) but the owners decided that morning to open, so they were less then half staff across the board and being a popular place they were slammed with customers. When we left, I had to acknowledge that sometimes poor service is not because the person we interact with, it is the support system behind the scenes we do not see that do not enable them to deliver that experience. So as many of us head out tonight or through the week lets all keep in mind that we have a right to expect great service, but lets also remember many times when our expectation is not meet, it is not always the person we see or talk to most that caused it. #customerexperience #customerservice #resturant #serviceindustry #expectations #expectationmanagement #valentinesday
