Today, my 6-year-old son Prayaan and I completed a 250-piece puzzle together. As we worked on it, I realized how much building a company is like solving a puzzle. Here are a few takeaways:
1. Patience and persistence: Just like in business, you solve one piece at a time.
2. Focus and prioritize: We focused on one section at a time, which helped us finish quicker—reminds me how breaking down challenges leads to better progress.
3. Slow start, fast finish: It took us 1.5 hours to finish the first 100 pieces, 1 hour for the next 100, and just 15 minutes for the last 50. The early stages of any venture always seem to take the longest.
4. Setbacks happen:At one point, my 2-year-old son Vaayu scattered 50-75 pieces, but putting them back didn’t take long. In business, setbacks are inevitable, but recovery often doesn’t take as long as the initial effort.
5. Teamwork matters: We split sections of the puzzle, each working on our part—just like dividing responsibilities in a team.
