National Flag Adoption Day marks the historic moment when our national flag was officially adopted. This day, celebrated with pride and honor, symbolizes the unity, freedom, and rich cultural heritage of our nation. On this day, citizens across the country reflect on the struggles and sacrifices made to achieve independence and cherish the values represented by the tricolor flag: courage, peace, and prosperity. The flag, with its saffron, white, and green stripes, and the blue Ashoka Chakra at its center, serves as a reminder of our commitment to justice, equality, and integrity. As we honor Indigenous Peoples Day, we reflect on the lasting impact of settler colonialism and the ongoing struggles Indigenous communities continue to face. The theft of Indigenous land is not just a historical event but an ongoing reality that demands accountability and action. Recognizing the genocides unfolding across the world today, we are reminded of the deep parallels between the violence faced by First Nations peoples globally and the urgent need for a united commitment to human rights. At the Women’s Foundation of California, our work is rooted in the values of Alegría, Power, and Belonging as we build a multigenerational, cross-cultural movement for healthy, safe, and prosperous communities. We go beyond acknowledgment by taking concrete actions to support rematriation and return land to Indigenous hands. In partnership with Indigenous-led organizations, we are committed to returning stolen land and upholding Indigenous sovereignty. Together, with Alegría, strength, and solidarity, we are building a feminist future that honors Indigenous rights and restores justice. Read more on our blog: https://lnkd.in/ggkH9TED

The Trail of Tears stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of settler colonialism in America, rooted in justifications that reflect broader imperialist ideologies. By critically assessing these narratives alongside contemporary issues like the Nakba and Kashmir, it becomes evident that historical injustices continue to resonate today. Understanding these connections is crucial for fostering awareness and advocating for justice for displaced communities worldwide.

🕊️Peace, Justice, and non-violence: A Timeless Commitment🕊️ ✊🏽 Peace and justice aren’t fleeting ideals; they’re powerful forces that have always existed, even in the darkest times. True non-violence is not passive—it’s an active, courageous resistance to violence and a bold stand for justice. When we choose non-violence, we choose solidarity with peace, resilience in the face of hardship, and a commitment to justice that withstands all opposition. ✨ Even in the face of some of the world’s most profound challenges— violence against women and children, military occupation and colonial projects, and systemic injustices faced by Indigenous peoples—hope endures. Across the globe, there are countless places, people, and moments where peace and compassion shine brightly. While conflict and violence may sometimes dim the flame of peace, it can never extinguish it. 🌍 In every act of kindness, every effort to protect the earth, and every community standing together for justice, peace is alive. It’s found in our shared commitment to creating a better world and in the resilience of those who refuse to let violence and inequality define our future. 🧡 Together, let’s honour and continue to activate the everlasting nature of peace and justice. Let’s carry forward the legacy of non-violence as an unbreakable commitment to a world where every life is valued and every voice is heard. #NonViolence #PeaceAndJustice #ActiveResistance #SolidarityWithPeace #EndViolence #HopeInDarkTimes #GlobalSolidarity #InstituteofNonViolence #IoNV #16Days #16daysofactivism

"Om Mani Padme Hum" A well-known precious mantra in Tibetan Buddhism associated with Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion embodying peace, compassion, and the interconnectedness of all beings. On Remembrance Day, we pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who worked tirelessly for the peace and freedom we cherish today. As we honor their legacy, we are reminded that peace is not just a gift; it is something we must cultivate, within ourselves and in the world around us. This mantra calls us to bring compassion and harmony into our daily actions. In a world where conflict and division are ever-present, Remembrance Day offers us a chance to reset our priorities—to reaffirm our commitment to peace and to honor those who served by embodying their values of unity, selflessness, and compassion. Lest we forget, let us carry forward the legacy of peace, working toward a future where the principles of harmony, freedom, and mutual respect guide us all.
On this Remembrance Day, we honor those who sacrificed for the peace, freedom, and harmony we cherish. Their commitment reminds us of the profound impact that unity and shared purpose can have on our communities and workplaces.
