How can the NHS ensure funding is spent on the interventions that matter? How can the NHS make difficult decisions about where its limited budget is spent? In this clip, Richard Smale (Interim Director of System Co-ordination, NHS England – South West) describes two areas that he sees as having real potential to ensure funding is based on evidence: 1) Shifting the focus to outcomes that matter to patients 2) Exploring the return on investment of an intervention (the long-term value over the short term) This clip is from our webinar: 'How does funding flow in NHSE Regions?'. Health Tech CEO, over two decades running mission critical software & data companies. Founder CEO - Temple Black - Quantum Health Technologies CEO Endeavour Predict .2024 Chair - Tech UK Health & Social Care Council
At last everyone has an opportunity to contribute the future of the NHS. It’s not about just fixing the here and now, but looking at an NHS and Social Care service for the future, ten years and beyond. We have a unique social responsibility system developed over 75 years. So we are lucky to have a lot of legal, governmental construct in place, that some other countries can only dream about, however, it’s not joined up and fit for the next 70 years. This government may have at least two terms to start to turn it around. We know that a lot of health issues are non- communicable diseases and impacted by the social determinants of health. What is the deal between the citizen and the Health and Care service? Can we invest in looking after ourselves better, whilst the government helps those impacted most in society? Meanwhile, how can we move to prediction and prevention- allowing better health for longer? Balancing our resources, our highly trained and skilled health professionals with using them best value, whilst availing of the power of technology and A.I. To create a more dynamic, real time service and a more enjoyable place to work for those delivering our care! Now is the time to think and be heard.
📢 We want to hear your experiences of the NHS and your ideas to help us change it. Get involved: https://bit.ly/4eLNq1w ✍️ Add your voice today. ✅ Let's make it fit for the future.
