In spring 2022, IMA and EdSystems of Northern Illinois University launched the Scaling Transformative Advanced Manufacturing Pathways (STAMP) to boost skilled manufacturing workforce in Illinois and advance equity. In eight regions across Illinois, STAMP supports pathways for secondary students, focusing on historically marginalized students in under-represented groups. New Endowed Chair for Circular Fiber-Based Packaging Systems at TU Dresden ♼ #TUDresden and the DIE PAPIERINDUSTRIE association with its research foundation are taking a major step towards developing sustainable packaging solutions. Following the signing of the agreement for the Endowed Chair of Circular Fiber-Based Packaging Systems on Monday, TU Dresden is set to become a center for innovative research, development and teaching in the field of circular economy packaging. The paper industry will provide a total of EUR 250,000 per year for five years from the date the Chair is filled. The establishment of the Chair will continue to enhance TUD's expertise in the field of material cycles for packaging. UCD's Engineering Graduates Associations Autumn Panel Discussion on Generative AI use in Engineering was a thought-provoking discussion on the positives and the potential pitfalls of embracing AI in our engineering endeavours. It was clear that there is a lot of untapped potential in the tools already available and the potential power of future iterations may only be limited by the volume and quality of the data we can provide. There are no serious concerns about it superseding the need for well educated engineers however, as the human engineer, with all their knowledge and experience and fundamental understanding of how science can be applied in the real world, will still be needed to apply sound engineering judgement and question the outputs from this technology. I for one was reassured that in the same way as my father's generation managed the move from slide rule to calculator and mine mastered the move from calculator to high-powered computers, current and future engineers will master the application of this latest tool and apply it to solving the engineering challenges we face locally and globally. Dissertation Status: DONE! ✅ Finally, submitted my dissertation on analysing the transition of automotive product development from a linear economy to a circular economy! Who knew that identifying multiple challenges that impede the pursuit of sustainability goals and developing recommendations for the successful implementation of circular economy principles in the automotive industry would be such an interesting and thought-provoking dissertation?

With the growth of businesses in the region, workforce plays a crucial role in maintaining and accelerating that growth.
