"Standing on the Shoulders of Giants" Almost 4 years back, I embarked on my engineering journey to learn about product development and acquire essential engineering skills. At the time, I was uncertain about what lay ahead, what the experience would be like, or what I would gain from it. However, soon after joining Muffakham Jah College of Engineering & Technology, we had an induction program—unfortunately online, thanks to, you know who? (yes, Corona!). Despite the virtual format, it transformed not only my outlook but also my approach to preparing for the world. This experience inspired me to create a practical handbook, not just a report, covering valuable insights on mindset, emerging technologies, skill-building, networking, pursuing passions, personality development, and more—wisdom shared by seasoned professionals and industry leaders from various fields. I'm thrilled to have applied these principles to my life, and the results have been exceptional. Now, I want to share this practical handbook with my network and LinkedIn family. I encourage you to give it a try—I believe you won't regret it! Follow Zubair Uddin

How can engineers get help when they become stuck in their careers, well coaching is one choice, how does that work?🤔 Welcome back for my sixth interview with an active engineer you can find here on #LinkedIn, today we have an Coach for leadership, communication and growth within engineering Chris Stasiuk Chris brings over 25 years of engineering experience with a background in control systems and industrial automation, but his main focus these days is in helping engineers in breaking through their career plateaus. Chris also has a YouTube channel (still new): https://lnkd.in/eUMmbqt6 As before, I'm not placing the interview in the comments, so please find Chris's interview here: https://lnkd.in/e5w-Dcfp But now a taster: What key skills do you believe are essential for success in your engineering discipline, and how did you develop these skills? "Technical skills are table stakes and engineers graduate with these. What is often missing is humility – understanding and accepting what you don’t know opens growth opportunities. Once you have that, communication, leadership, and emotional intelligence are skills that truly advance your career. These skills must be actively sought out – typically through courses, training, or coaching – and then practiced relentlessly." These engineers I invite for interview really do go the extra mile to engage and help others! But the main point of this series is to show Young engineers and Students how easy it is to find and engage with other engineers, because networking is important, engineers want to share their knowledge and it's a great first step. Thank you again Chris for taking the time to answer my questions! enjoy all! ----- Connect with me and enable notifications (🔔) for daily insights on engineering excellence, mentorship, and personal development. Recently, we conducted interviews for leadership positions, emphasizing the importance of teamwork skills in addition to technical expertise. Leaders must excel in collaboration, adaptation, and inspiration within a team. Here’s how we assess these vital skills during interviews: 💡 Adaptability: We look for resilience and problem-solving abilities under pressure. Candidates who provide creative solutions and remain composed in challenging situations demonstrate adaptability. 🗣️ Communication Skills: Effective communication goes beyond words; it ensures clarity and alignment within the team. Candidates showcasing empathy, clarity, and motivational strategies stand out as great communicators who inspire action. 🤝 Cooperation: True teamwork values diverse perspectives and fosters inclusivity. Leaders who encourage open communication, value team members' input, and resolve conflicts effectively are key in nurturing collaboration. 📚 Research Insight: Studies from Harvard, Carnegie Endowment, and Stanford Research underscore that 85% of workplace success hinges on interpersonal skills, with only 15% attributed to technical knowledge. This highlights the significance of soft skills, especially in today's AI-driven landscape. By prioritizing these teamwork skills in interviews, we identify candidates who not only bring technical prowess but also lead with empathy, adaptability, and effective communication. Let's build teams that thrive on collaboration and inclusivity! ✨🚀😄

Wow, just wow!!! I loved that this post resonated with most of us. Changing one's trajectory, career-wise, is not an easy thing. It really does take time to adjust fully into the new environment. I would easily say that sometimes you may discover that you are in the wrong field 🫠... There is nothing wrong in admitting this. The question now becomes, how do we move to where our passion and calling is? Most times, you may find that there is no one to hold your hand. In this case, if the calling is so strong, go for it! Do take time to plan, network with others in that field, look for mentors and coaches, gain the skills needed, then when you are fully convinced that it's now time, GO FOR IT!! Wishing you all the best!!!

Many ask me how I transitioned into L&D from studying manufacturing engineering for 5 years. Life led me here, and I couldn't be happier. If given a chance to return to engineering, my answer would be no. Why? First, personal growth has driven me to inspire others to be their best selves. Secondly, I've evolved so much that operating machinery seems like a distant memory. Lastly, my aversion to big machines with saws and blades is undeniable. We must provide better career guidance to high schoolers beyond prestigious fields. Embrace career shifts post-college; it might lead to your true calling. 📞🫡 #CareerAdvice #PersonalGrowth #EmbraceChange

As a part of my application to an opportunity, I'm sharing this to document my progress. This video include a minimal resume about myself, some of my skills, and experiences I gained during the last years. I would like to title it and mention my belief again that "Engineering is not only a science, but a lifestyle and a mindset".
