Building on the success of a previous partnership with Prime 8, a global technology company wanted to expand its virtual training offerings to include more advanced courses and certifications. The company also needed to find ways to reach more customers. The Prime 8 Consulting team collaborated closely with the client to revamp the client’s website, update product positioning, curate existing training materials and develop new ones, and train field associates on a new intake procedure. Yesterday I talked about how you may want to use a campaign to target current clients, especially in the onboarding process. One great way to do that is with video. 65% of the population are visual learners and people retain 80% of what they see versus 20% of what they read and 10% of what they hear. (see: https://lnkd.in/gYtCGE7B.) We recently worked with a client who developed an ordering portal for doctors and consumers. With her guidance, we took two approaches: a short promotional video to highlight the benefits of the new portal and a longer tutorial video that will be easily accessed inside the portal. She provided an outline of the key components of the video and then we jumped into the portal to do screen captures and recordings and developed a script to go along with each step. By having a video for onboarding, our client is increasing the likelihood of successful usage of the portal, decreasing frustration for customers and decreasing call volume for customer service.

What's the problem with everyone owning #customereducation? 🤔 Like a lot of things, if everyone owns customer education in your organization, then no one really does. This often leads to duplicated efforts, customers who are unsure where to find information, and neglected content maintenance. Ideally, there’s one team responsible for customer education, and maybe they also handle partner and/or employee enablement. Who should own training will likely depend on your company's maturity, resource availability, and/or even the size of your customer education team. If you are just getting started, or don’t have the resources or ability to consolidate ownership, then your best bet may be to establish a cross-functional team or internal council. Tips for managing shared ownership: 💡 Form a Cross-Functional Team: Create a RACI matrix, identify and prioritize training needs, and select the most suitable formats. 🔄 Leverage and Repurpose Content: Look for ways to repurpose content that others are creating to meet similar needs across different audiences—whether it's account executives, implementation specialists, prospects, or new and experienced customers. 📝 Standardize Training Materials: Create and share templates and guidelines to ensure consistency. 📊 Leverage Technology: Leverage (and consolidate if necessary!) an LMS and other tech tools to streamline training delivery and tracking. 🗣️ Feedback Loops: Establish regular feedback loops with learners for continuous improvement. 🔄 Content Maintenance: Regularly review and update training materials. 🌟 Recognize Expertise: Encourage and recognize contributions from subject matter experts. By streamlining training ownership and incorporating these practices, you can ensure consistent, accessible, and well-maintained educational resources for your entire organization.
