National Wear Red Day and our BBI team in Strongsville is showing their support for heart health! Even if you forget your red shirt, like Aaron did, there's always a way to improvise 🤣🤣 It's important to remember that cardiac arrest and heart attacks are not the same thing, even though many people use the terms interchangeably. Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart malfunctions and stops beating unexpectedly, while a heart attack is caused by a blockage in blood flow to the heart. Cardiac arrest is an "electrical" problem, while a heart attack is a "circulation" problem. Early detection and treatment are crucial in both cases. If you suspect someone is experiencing either cardiac arrest or a heart attack, call 9-1-1 immediately. The sooner medical treatment begins, the better the chances of survival and preventing heart damage. #NationalWearRedDay #HeartHealth

When a stroke occurs getting prompt medical attention is critical. This is why it's important to remember the acronym FAST. F - Face drooping - Does one side of the face is droop or is numb? A - Arm weakness - Is one side of the arm weak or numb? S - Speech difficulty - Is speech slurred? T - Time to call 911 - Stroke is an emergency. Every minute counts, call 911 immediately. Note the time of when symptoms occur. Learn more from the American Stroke Association at: https://lnkd.in/dqtgNas

According to the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association, one in four individuals will experience a stroke, and one in four individuals have a hole in their heart. A blood clot in the heart can pass through this hole and travel to the brain, causing a stroke. Strokes occurring earlier in life are increasing. Hole in the Heart advocates for adequate heart screening to prevent further health complications arising from an undiagnosed Congenital Heart Defect (CHD). ❤️ www.HoleInTheHeartASD.org #chd #congenitalheartdisease #strokeprevention #innovation

Ensure you are using the #correctedQT interval based on the duration of the #ECGtest and patient heart rate. Values lower than normal may be caused by short QT syndrome which is a condition that in turn leads to arrhythmia. This is not considered to have to do with any underlying structural anomaly of the heart and can appear at any age. A shorter QT interval basically means that the heart takes less time to relax between contractions. This can lead to syncope, dizziness and even complicate to cardiac arrest and sudden death. Prolonged QT syndrome is also indicative of an arrhythmia type and is characteristic by moments in which the heart suddenly beats faster for no particular reason. This is a handy calculator to use to get the QTc: https://lnkd.in/eDS2bigK

While GDMT in heart failure has improved outcomes for many, this graph shows readmissions 😱😱😱 and death trends in text below Stage D heart failure is real- we are terrible identifying it. Which 50% survival would you want? 50% at 1-3 years (meds) or 50% at 5-6 years (VAD🦾) or 50% at 13 years ❤️🩹transplant)? Refer. Give your patients 15 min to talk to an Advanced Heart Failure specialist to see if they could benefit. 15 min could change the 50% trajectory…
