Are you on maternity leave or recently returned after maternity leave back to work? The process I liken to more of a 3-6 month transition both emotionally and physically, rather than flicking a switch. Here are some tips for transitioning back to work after maternity leave: 1. Set your boundaries and know your limits 2. Transition childcare before you return to work 3. Lower your expectations - both at home and at work 4. Transition - it’s a journey that will happen over a period of time 5. Review and share the mental load - this helps with your partner as mums we typically take on more whilst on maternity leave and don’t let this go when we return If you have returned from maternity leave, what are your tips or wish you had known before you returned? #returntowork #maternityleave #workingparent #workingmum

Transitioning back to work after maternity leave can be a significant adjustment, but with the right preparation, it can be a smooth process. It's important to communicate with your employer about your needs and any changes in your schedule. Consider a gradual return if possible, which can help both you and your baby get used to the new routine. Remember to give yourself grace during this period; it's normal to feel a mix of emotions. Lastly, ensure you have a reliable childcare plan in place, giving you peace of mind while at work. With these steps, you can make your return to work after maternity leave as seamless as possible.

Did you know that only 8% of workers in the hospitality industry have access to paid family leave? Working parents in the hospitality and tourism industry face several challenges in managing their work and family responsibilities. Without proper maternity and paternity leave, parents and their newborns often face health issues. Many working parents also experience high levels of stress when returning to work after maternity/paternity leave. Additionally, inflexible work schedules make it difficult for parents in the hospitality industry to balance their work-family conflicts and find childcare resources. #WorkingParentsDay #FamilyBusiness #FemaleFounded Read the research paper here: https://lnkd.in/ecDhfUqB

MATERNITY RETURNERS - ARE EMPLOYERS DOING ENOUGH? EDIT: webinar is happening - sign up https://lnkd.in/dMvJ4hhY Or anything at all? I know next to nothing on Maternity Leave, but EVEN LESS on Maternity Return. It does occur to me though that we need to at least re-onboard maternity returnees, who cannot be expected to immediately 'hit the ground running' as if the past year or so didn't happen. Parenthood is life changing, especially for mothers - have we designed jobs that are responsive to these changes? Thinking about doing a Brainfood Live on this, as I'm not seeing this topic discussed much. Anyone have any thoughts on what an employer can do to improve maternity return experience?

Returning to work after maternity leave can be both exciting and challenging. Here are some tips to help make the transition smoother: 1. Plan Ahead: Gradually ease back into your routine by organising childcare, setting a new schedule, and communicating with your employer. 2. Stay Connected: Before your return, touch base with your team to stay updated on any changes or developments. 3. Prioritise Self-Care: Balancing work and parenthood is demanding—make time for yourself to recharge. 4. Seek Support: Don't hesitate to ask for help from colleagues, friends, or family. You don't have to do it all alone! 5. Be Patient: Adjusting takes time. Allow yourself grace as you find your new rhythm. You've got this! 💪 #MaternityLeave #WorkLifeBalance #WorkingMum

Preparing for maternity leave was hard… ✨ Not really knowing when your leave will actually start, as baby could come at any time ✨ Preparing a handover for colleagues ✨ The hormones, exhaustion, lack of comfort during the third trimester Returning to work after maternity leave was even harder… ✨ Trying to juggle new responsibilities and family dynamic ✨ Getting into a routine with childcare/leaving your baby for the first time with a stranger ✨ The shift in your own priorities and motivation After maternity leave, people often forget what you’ve been through whilst you’re off. Your whole life has changed, you’re still learning about how to be a parent, and you’re so often expected to just return like nothing has changed. How can employers support people returning from parental leave? ✅ Communication during their leave so they’re kept in the loop ✅ Phased returns or offering flexible hours/work patterns ✅ Plan ahead for their return by organising catch ups and meetings for updates during their first few weeks back Flexible working was the key to my return - it helped me build my new routine and get used to balancing everything! A 4.5 day week means I still get 1-1 time with my son every week too ☀️ Returning to work is daunting, but can be great if it’s handled well and with empathy ❤️ #returntowork #maternity #flexibleworking
