The LGBTQIA+ community continues to fight for equity and protections that many others don’t have to think twice about. They deserve the same rights and the same protections as every other resident in Prince George’s. Reflecting on this #PrideMonth, we are proud to have gotten the opportunity to celebrate with you all in so many ways. Your smiles and flying colors have been a beautiful testament of our diversity-rich communities.

It's time we began pushing boundaries to build an environment that's more accepting and loving. An environment where inclusivity feels natural, and isn't looked at as a privilege. It's time we started looking beyond these boundaries to spark conversations, which in turn create real-world impact. Cos closets are for clothes, not for identities. Couldn't have gone through this rollercoaster of a project without the help of the beautiful humans at Leo Burnett and IKEA. Team Leo Burnett: Rajeev Rakshit Bhawana C. Keerthi Kumar.R Anahita Brar Ananya Samantaray PRAVIN SUTAR Sandeep V Maudgal Iyer jamuna poovaiah Sanjeev Tripathi Niharika Mishra Natasha Khubchandani Sarjit Talwar Akhil Malshet Team IKEA: Kasturi Lal Abhishek Dutta Abhishek Jotwani Jayendra Gupta Chandan M Punita Dialani
This Pride Month, let the silence in the closet spark a conversation. Biases, often unspoken, can create invisible walls that isolate the LGBTQIA+ community. Let's listen, learn, and build bridges of understanding. Because closets are for clothes, not for identities. #PrideMonth #IKEA

Marsha P. Johnson: 'No Pride for Some of Us Without Liberation for All of Us' 🏳️🌈 Marsha P. Johnson's powerful words serve as a reminder that true pride and progress come from lifting each other up, hand in hand. Inclusivity isn't just a buzzword; it's a commitment to a brighter future where every voice is heard and valued. As a coach, I wholeheartedly embrace this message. My workshops are meticulously designed to build bridges and foster understanding among diverse individuals. We delve deep into the unique experiences of neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ communities, promoting acceptance and celebration of every individual's identity. In our collective journey towards liberation and equality, no one should be left behind. It's not just about some of us; it's about all of us. Together, we can create a world where pride knows no bounds, where every person is free to express their authentic self, and where diversity is our greatest strength. Let's continue Marsha P. Johnson's legacy by working hand in hand to build a more inclusive and equitable society. Your voice matters, and together, we can ensure that no one is left behind in our pursuit of progress and liberation. 🌍🌈 #InclusivityMatters #PrideForAll

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 When you celebrate pride, you're sending a message out into the world for anyone and everyone that sees it that this world has a place for us. There's a lot going on right now if you're LGBTQ+. We're used as corporate props to access demographics. We're painted as monsters to sway disconnected voters. We're having basic human rights stripped away. We're being put on lists. Elected officials are calling for us to be eradicated. Its easy to feel scared. But on days like today - the anniversary of Obergefell v. Hodges (2015) legalizing #marriageequality - we remember that the angry bigoted mobs and the people at their helm haven't won. Progress has been made. Kindness, determination, and love of humanity triumphed over thoughtless hate, misinformation, and violence. You don't have to uproot your life with grand sweeping efforts to support LGBTQ+ people. All it takes is one #pride post, one update to your profile, one 𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒅 message to your social sphere. Then suddenly the world around you is a little more gentle and the people who share your space will be a little less scared. When you are seen celebrating others it gives them the space to celebrate themselves. Make the world a kinder place, by being loud about pride. Happy pride.

Overhauling How We Show Up as Allies Insight #1: Understand that we win or lose together. Let’s stick with the World War II Allies analogy for our first couple of tips on how to be a great ally. We can’t get the John Lewis Restoration of Voting Rights Act passed while our LGBTQ+ siblings suffer slow incursions into their rights and safety. We cannot codify Roe and watch our immigrant brethren get locked out, beaten up, whipped, and accused of eating pets. Ours is an infinitely harder journey than that of the radical right because we are concerned with the well-being of everyone. We know that we walk into the Promised Land arm-in-arm, or we don’t get there at all. We have to care about people we’ve been taught to fear. We have to care about people we’ve been taught not to trust. We have to fight for the welfare of people whose choices we do not understand. But we know, as Martin Luther King said, “all life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied into a single garment of destiny.” And so allies, let us always be vigilant of the well-being of each other knowing that if one of us fails, the entire alliance fails.
