🌱🚜 Support farmers' access to credit! 🌾 This week, advocates nationwide are rallying behind the Fair Credit for Farmers Act. Farmers deserve fair treatment when accessing credit, and this bill aims to make that a reality. Using lessons learned from farmer financial crisis casework, Rural Advancement Foundation International (RAFI), National Family Farm Coalition, National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition and Florida Organic Growers are supporting lending reforms in a bill introduced by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Representative Alma Adams. The Fair Credit for Farmers Act directly addresses many of the barriers farmers face as they attempt to access credit at the Farm Service Agency. Credit is crucial for farmers to grow their businesses, but many face obstacles at the Farm Service Agency. The Fair Credit for Farmers Act will improve access and accountability in the loan application process. Take action now: Call your legislators and urge them to support this vital bill! Together, we can ensure farmers receive the support they need! Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/gBaDZ-7M #FairCreditForFarmers #SupportFarmers #TakeAction

Recently I had the opportunity to sit down with Ed Bertaud to discuss the history of the Farm Bill, supply chain issues, workforce, and how SNAP has impacted debate on farm policy over the last 50 years. Tune in to watch our full conversation in The Fresh CrEd’s latest episode: https://lnkd.in/gf_6tDTT #FarmBill #SupplyChain #Workforce #SNAP
Robert Guenther and Ed Bertaud unpack the intricacies of the Farm Bill debate and SNAP program connection. Congress’s strategic move in the 70s intertwined agricultural and food assistance policies to garner broader support. Today, with fewer rural districts, this connection remains vital for urban, suburban, and rural representatives alike. 🔗 Link to Full Episode: https://lnkd.in/gf_6tDTT 🔗 Follow us for more updates: Thefreshcred.com A big thank you to our episode sponsors: Born Farms, Art MX, Mucci Farms, Sev-Rend, Santos International, 4EARTH FARMS, SunFed, Zubelle Industries, IFCO SYSTEMS, and our beverage sponsor, Tehuacan Brillante for their support. #FarmBillDebate #SNAPProgram #CongressInsights

NC's candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture. We deserve a countryside that works for everyone in it.
I wrote an op-ed for The Nation about my run for Commissioner of Agriculture; why this state-level seat is so often ignored; and why it matters for democracy. Decades of corrupt leadership, mismanagement, and fraud have gutted rural North Carolina. It's not just sad- it's driving radicalization and undermining our democracy. I'm running to invest in rural areas. We deserve a strong rural economy and a democracy that works for us. https://lnkd.in/eD6BT2Nk
