#HousingOpportunityFund Rally Recap: Last Week, BiSHoP rallied with SF Community Organizers in support of subsidies that address the hardships of extremely low-income (ELI) seniors, working families, and disabled individuals. The fund would provide rental subsidies to bridge the gap between very low-income and ELI rent levels. For less than 1% of San Francisco's budget, this subsidy would make 700+ units affordable to ELI households by 2026, and 2,800+ households by 2031. Thank you to our fellow city organizers who joined us in this rally, including Senior and Disability Action, Self-Help for the Elderly, Chinatown Community Development Center, Young Community Developers, and Mission Economic Development Agency. Join us in supporting this crucial initiative to ensure inclusive and equitable housing opportunities for all San Franciscans, regardless of income level. Stay tuned for updates on the measure's introduction and upcoming hearings. #HousingForAll #AffordableHousingForAll #EquityInHousing #SanFrancisco #SFNonProfit #BayAreaHousing #HumanRights #AffordableHousingMonth

HomeClub looks at hundreds of articles every day. We choose the best ones to share with our readers. This gives you a quick look at what's happening in the home improvement industry. The article below is one we picked. Community revitalization efforts can have a profound impact on local residents, fostering a sense of belonging and improving quality of life. Lowe's Foundation Hometowns program exemplifies this by awarding $10 million in grants to 100 nonprofits across the United States, as reported by Lowe's Companies, Inc.'s newsroom. These grants will fund diverse projects, from building tiny homes for veterans in South Dakota to creating a community garden in Detroit. By supporting initiatives that address specific local needs, Lowe's is not only improving physical spaces but also strengthening community bonds and providing essential services to vulnerable populations. This commitment to community development demonstrates the power of corporate social responsibility in creating lasting positive change. Following our presentation to HRM's Community Planning and Economic Development Standing Committee (CPED) on behalf of the New Roots Community Land Trust (CLT) North End African Nova Scotian (ANS) Community, myself & Houssam Elokda had the privilege of being interviewed by Vanessa Wright with Global News to discuss the origins and urgency of our work. In my interview I discussed the origins of this work and emphasized its urgency. It’s crucial to act now to prevent further displacement of our community due to gentrification causing rising rental rates and extreme land dispossession in community. It's crucial to leverage this land to begin to rebuild the ANS communities that were lost in Cogswell and surrounding areas through Urban Renewal to help resident return to their previous status of working class, business and homeowners. titles that were lost by thousands of anus individuals through this process. The Trust intends to use funds generated from this initial development for the Community Land Trust (CLT) to acquire land in the North End and surrounding areas where historic ANS communities once lived and thrived; to restore and strengthen our community to its previous status. We hope this work, when competed, can serve as a blueprint for other communities to duplicate elsewhere to begin to develop their own sense of ownership and equity. Stay tuned for more updates on our progress and how you can support this vital initiative. #CommunityDevelopment #AffordableHousing #UrbanPlanning #SocialJustice #HousingEquity #CommunityEngagement #Nonprofit #HousingCrisis #CityPlanning #SustainableDevelopment #CivicLeadership #CommunityEmpowerment #LocalGovernment #PublicPolicy #RealEstateDevelopment

It’s no secret that the Bay Area has affordable housing challenges. One interesting model for addressing this is a Community Land Trust (CLT). A CLT is a nonprofit organization that manages land and offers housing for the benefit of a community, enabling it to become stronger and more equitable. Read more about CLTs and see some examples in the East Bay at the link below! #redoakrealty #realestate #eastbay #eastbayrealestate #GoodMove #realtortips #affordablehousing #communitylandtrust #blogpost #bayareahousing
