A big boost for Texas infrastructure funding! The 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗙𝗛𝗪𝗔) has just announced its largest 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 of uncommitted federal funds ever—$𝟴.𝟳 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 for highway and bridge projects across the U.S. 🚗 🌟And with $𝟭.𝟭𝟳 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻, Texas receives the biggest share!🌟 This funding will support crucial civil engineering projects, improving roads, bridges, and transportation safety. 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱, Director of Policy and Government Relations at AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials), emphasized that this year's early notice allowed state DOTs to plan ahead and meet the Sept. 25 obligation deadline. A large portion of these redistributed funds comes from unused loans and credit programs like 𝗧𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗔, which have been less appealing due to the 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝗼𝗯𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁 (𝗜𝗜𝗝𝗔)'s focus on grants. With grants taking center stage, expect even more funding opportunities in the future. This is great news for civil engineers and the communities they serve. We’re proud to be part of the talent pipeline powering these transformative projects. This could be an important step in the right direction for infrastructure colleagues to be aware of.......... Infrastructure investment is a healthy way to drive economic growth, particularly if tied to an enhanced NetZero policy enabling new markets to develop. #infrastructureinvestment #industryled #economicgrowth
Given yesterday's news, it is perhaps unsurprising that many will have missed at announcement by Labour with fairly significant ramifications for infrastructure policy should it win the election. Its proposed merger of the Infrastructure & Projects Authority, and National Infrastructure Commission potentially delivers one of the things that Civil Engineering Contractors Association (National) has been calling for, which is a powerful body for infrastructure at the heart of Government. We are delighted that this call in our manifesto earlier this year is helping shape up part of Labour's plans, and hope that other parties will be similarly strong in the coming weeks on making sure our vital national infrastructure is at the top of the agenda regardless of who finds themselves in Number 10 come July 5th.

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) promised a shot in the arm for U.S. roads, bridges, and other projects, but the Build America, Buy America (BABA) aspects of the law are confusing structural steel fabricators and contractors, reports Washington D.C. journalist Stephen Barlas. BABA expanded domestic content requirements for use of U.S.-made steel and iron. The White House Office of Management and Budget set regulations in September 2023. At a Feb. 18 hearing in front of the House Subcommittee on Highways and Transit, complaints started to emerge from both the steel companies selling the raw material for these infrastructure projects and the contractor buying the steel. #baba #steel #infrastructure #madeinamerica #structuralsteel

We are excited to partner with United for Infrastructure #InfrastructureWeek The key objective of Infrastructure Week is to highlight the significant role that infrastructure plays in our daily lives. Without the E&C companies who build the infrastructure that our nation depends on, our economy and quality of life would suffer. Since most infrastructure is used daily, it’s only natural for it to become commonplace and therefore taken for granted. The opportunity to highlight infrastructure’s importance and the need for continued investment is important for FMI to participate in as we seek to create a better future for the built environment. Today we release our 2Q Civil Infrastructure Construction Index (CICI). Learn more about the trends we are seeing across all segments.

The UK construction industry is calling on the newly formed government to swiftly act on critical planned infrastructure projects that were stalled during the run-up to the general election. Key projects awaiting government decisions include: The Lower Thames Crossing (planning decision delayed until October) Proposed terminals at London Luton Airport and Port of Immingham The draft PR24 settlement in water The third Road Investment Strategy The Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) is urging the new government to provide a clear plan of action for infrastructure in its first 100 days. This includes policy statements on energy, transport, water, skills, and employment and a timetable for major fiscal events. CECA director Marie-Claude Hemming emphasized that the success of the UK infrastructure sector depends on pipeline certainty, policy clarity, and close industry-government cooperation. She called on the new government to turn manifesto plans into reality and deliver a stronger Britain. The construction industry stands ready to break ground on schemes across the UK. Decisive government action on these paused projects will boost economic growth and build a sustainable future. #construction #infrastructure #UK #government #policy

Today the National Infrastructure Commission published its Infrastructure Progress Review 2024. Yet there is nothing really new here. More needs to be done. A lot more. Many of the recommendations tie in the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (National) has been championing for the long-term. Could all these problems could be solved if the National Infrastructure Commission was put on its originally proposed #statutory #footing? https://lnkd.in/edNnYtva
