This is great! Maintaining quality in home-based care is essential for the effective treatment and health improved health outcomes of millions of patients around the globe. The innovation of healthcare technologies in the past decade has enabled healthcare professionals to provide care at home, but maintaining quality and standards has been a challenge, especially for patients undergoing intensive treatment regimens. NEJM Catalyst: Another successful trial of RPM to further move care to the home. https://lnkd.in/eQFeekRR Mayo Clinic colleagues used the technology to further de-risk the home-based care mgmt of oncology patients with febrile neutropenia. Small trial but promising initial outcomes with lower inpatient days, high satisfaction, and lower rate of ICU stay when readmitted. However, the management of complex oral treatment regimens and safety protocols has simultaneously increased patients’ burden of responsibility. A recent article in Oncology Practice Management (OPM), an Amplity Health publication, explains that a proactive, multidisciplinary approach involving multiple prescription and patient touchpoints is paramount to ensuring treatment compliance.
