We digitally print frosted colours onto transparent window film. This means intricate designs like those featured in this video can quickly be produced and installed on-site. The method of computer-cutting vinyl has its limitations. It is still a big part of our business, but our printing process enables more expansive opportunities. We can print white ink in any percentage, including gradients. We also use white ink blended with other colours to produce a wide range of frosted colours, which can create more depth or be used as shading. Because the design is printed onto one sheet of clear film, it makes installation a breeze. Designed and arranged in #InDesign, I had a lot of fun formatting the two layers. I specifically chose the colours, blue and pink for the sake of the texts and images. Just won a Gold Award from FSEA - Foil & Specialty Effects Association for this Scodix #embellishment creating the feel of moving water. This was a great collaboration with designer Christina Hagopian. Once I saw the design, we discussed various ways that we could create this feeling of movement. Digital foil was chosen. Design techniques for print embellishments include hot/cold foil stamping, engraving, letterpress, screen printing, and deboss/emboss. These methods can create unique textures and visual effects, such as the feeling of moving water through digital foil with relief, allowing light to hit at different angles.
