Please DON’T hire me!! If you want me on commission only. Any really good salesperson or sales manager isn’t going to come to your team on commission only. I’ve made this mistake before, and it never ends well. Usually, what the hiring party is hoping for is to create a no-risk situation. The problem? - The salesperson is taking a HUGE risk. - There’s no such thing as a reward that comes without risk. - There’s no investment on the company's end into the salesperson, so they’ll end up putting their success last on the list of priorities. Salespeople, how many times have you been offered a position that: “You could make $150k in your first year” or “One deal and you’ll be set” (By the way, a partnership is different than commission-only sales and of course, there are also exceptions to every rule).
