You can be the CEO of a Billion dollar conglomerate. You can manage 50 sales people. You can own a million dollar business… but NOTHING will be as challenging as coaching your children through life! Amazing weekend at Red Hook Golf Club for the U.S. Kids Golf NY State Invitational! I can’t begin to tell you all how much we BOTH learned about the game and the pressure that comes with playing in one of these. The State Invitationals are no joke, and the kids were next level! Jayden had a great first round, but the pressure got to him on Sunday, and after one bad hole it was over! 😔 It was a somber drive home, but that’s Golf… and life. Just like in the business world, you can prepare until the cows come home, nail your practice rounds, think you have it in the bag, and then completely buckle. We took risks on day 2 to push ahead that ended up biting us, and I’m still kicking myself for it. We had nothing to lose at that point. It was the only way to get back in it. The moment a 7 year old realizes it’s over, it can all unravel fast! I guess the same can be said about a professional adult who looses an important deal. It’s both tough and soul destroying to deal with. All we could do is learn from it and make adjustments for the next one. It’s a humbling experience, but we can’t cry about it. Got to keep pushing forward and do better on the next one. That’s the beauty of this game… there’s always the next one! Whether it’s golf, a business meeting, or an important deal, all we can do is learn, make improvements, and get ready for that next close! Up next, the Canadian Open! 🇨🇦 ⛳️ ❤️

🏴 “A Change of Story: Lessons from England vs. Slovakia” 🇸🇰 📅 Last week, during our Sunday service, my pastor drew inspiration from the England vs. Slovakia match in a thrilling Euro 2024 match. The stakes were high, and hope seemed to wane as the clock ticked down. But then, in the final moments, something remarkable happened—a change of story. 🌟 The Comeback: England, seemingly defeated, found renewed strength. Jude Bellingham’s stunning bicycle kick in injury time breathed life back into the game. And just 86 seconds later, Harry Kane’s header secured victory in extra time. The impossible became possible. 🎯 Your Goals and Dreams: As small business owners, we often encounter moments when it feels like the game is over. Sales may stagnate, strategies may falter, and doubt creeps in. But remember England’s resilience. Even when it seems darkest, a change of story awaits. 📝 The Drawing Board: Take a page from England’s playbook. Go back to your drawing board—the place where dreams are sketched. Review your goals, re-draw your plans, and ask yourself: Who Can Help? Seek mentors, coaches, or courses that align with your vision. What’s Your Starting Point? Identify actionable steps to move forward. Embrace the Giant Step: Like England, take that leap of faith. Victory awaits. 🌈 Halfway Through 2024: It’s not too late. Your goals aren’t down the drain; they’re waiting for your next move. Believe in your ability to turn the tide. 🚀 🙌 Tag a Fellow Business Owner: Share this post with someone who needs encouragement. Let’s rewrite our stories together! 💪 Remember, just as England defied the odds, so can you. 🌟 Keep pushing forward, and may your business thrive! Enjoy the rest of your week! 😊👊 #changeofstory#resilience #businessgoal #dreambig #smallbusinessjourney#victoryawaits #keeppushingforward #halfwaythrough2024 #believeinyourself #businessinspiration

Unlock Your Potential: Helping UK Financial Advisers Take Control, Boost Earnings, and Find True Career Fulfillment. Let's Discover Your Perfect Role! 📞 07815 900 197 ✉️ jb@thefimsconsultancy.co.uk"
𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚’𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 As a lifelong Aston Villa fan, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of pride and nostalgia when Villa recently toppled Bayern Munich in the Champions League. It took me right back to 1982 when Villa famously beat Bayern to win the European Cup. But what made this latest victory special wasn’t just the nostalgia; it was about defying the odds and outperforming expectations. In many ways, the journey of financial advisers mirrors this triumph. No one really gave Villa much of a chance against Bayern Munich. Let’s be honest, Bayern’s reputation speaks for itself. Villa’s win wasn’t down to luck; it was the product of determination, teamwork, and seizing every opportunity. They defied expectations, reminding us all that success comes when you push past what others think is possible. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐎𝐮𝐭: Just as Villa’s coaching team meticulously planned for Bayern, financial advisers must have a deep understanding of their clients' goals and challenges. It’s about offering advice that is tailored, thoughtful, and, most importantly, valuable. 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬: Villa’s win came from maximising their opportunities. Financial advisers should do the same—stay ahead of market trends, look for untapped opportunities, and be proactive rather than reactive. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭: Villa didn’t dominate from start to finish; they had to ride out the tough moments. Similarly, advisers must be resilient when markets fluctuate or when clients face uncertainty. Staying the course and providing reassurance is often what clients need most. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭: Villa’s victory was a team performance, not down to one star player. Financial advisers, too, should recognise the value of collaboration—whether within their firm or with their clients. A team-focused approach often leads to stronger, more successful outcomes. Aston Villa’s victory over Bayern Munich wasn’t just a feel-good moment for fans like me—it was a reminder that success comes from going beyond what’s expected. For financial advisers, the challenge is the same. By understanding clients deeply, staying resilient, and spotting opportunities, you can go from being the safe choice to the exceptional one. After all, outperforming expectations isn’t just about surprising others—it’s about proving to yourself that you’ve got what it takes to win, even when the odds are stacked against you. #FinancialServices #AstonVilla #OutperformingExpectations #FinancialAdvisers #VillaVictory #ChampionsLeague #1982EuropeanCup #ClientSuccess

Should Southgate drop Harry Kane from the England starting 11 for the Euro final on Sunday following another immobile performance that seemed to gum up the midfield? The equivalent question in my executive coaching practice is should I let the sales director go if his performance is continually falling behind target? And the answer is always no, unless you can rule out all other possible causes for the faltering performance such as general market decline, product mis-match to market need, new entrant into market, suboptimal management of the sales director, suboptimal direction of the sales team etc. Only once you have established that the problem springs from poor sales process, poor execution of the sales process or something more directly under the control of the sales director should you consider letting the sales director go. Having the insight to look for the root cause of the problem and to consider all the different angles and perspectives before acting is one of the key learnings in my executives coaching group. So Southgate should be looking from a variety of perspectives at whether Kane's performances so far are a key contributor to the team's somewhat stuttering progress to the final. And whether Kane's lacklustre efforts may yet hold the team back from taking the final step to bring the trophy home. Former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen has just said that Kane should be left out to bring more vigour to the attack against Spain. And yet Kane has scored 3 goals and could yet win the golden boot for top scorer. I agree with Meulensteen, but doubt that Southgate will be bold enough to take this approach. I'd be happy to moderate the Kane conversation Gareth, to help you consider all the alternatives before making a momentous decision.

It’s not often we talk about us, but it was time to shed some light on our founder. Paul has covered some ground, being in the spotlight and building a profile in the sporting arena both in Australia & UK (cricket, rugby, golf), the business arena (a non typical business mentor with a 22yrs as a CPA) and combining them. He has coached rugby (securing 3 Premierships), has taken a catch for the England Cricket team and has a hole in one at Barnbugle, one of Australia’s premier golf courses. His passion is helping people reset what’s possible for them and their business. He listens, gets an understanding of your space, and provides simple options to change and solve the frustrations you have in your business. He gets numbers (CPA experience helps here) and can generally identify quickly the challenges and possible ways to tweak things. His mottos include “Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes”, “It’s not the Thing they want, it’s the Feeling it gives them” and “My House My Rules”. Those who experience his ways, often refer to how simple and clear he makes things and that they leave his space with a renewed energy to make insane things happen. If you want someone who’s passionate about getting you results quickly, actually cares about you as a human, and who isn’t afraid to be direct and honest… you should chat to Paul. ENJOYING THE GRIND ⭐️What exercise do you think I was doing in the photo?⭐️ I find the gym a humbling place, don’t get me wrong over the last 4 months I have loved getting back into it and it has become a place that allows me to clear my thoughts. But there will always: 🏋️ someone bigger and stronger than you 🏋️ there will be a heavier weight to lift 🏋️ there will always be another rep which could be done But the focus needs to be on yourself, how you are progressing and what you want to achieve. Ultimately, I will never become World’s Strongest Man and be the best of the best, but I can still be successful and hit the goals I want to achieve through progressive training meaning that once I have reached a comfortable point then you need to overload again to progress. The same goes for my business, there will always be bigger companies out there and that is fine, my goal is for us to be the best we can be which takes self-confidence in the decisions you are making are right, reflection and evaluation to ensure the path you are taking is the best option and a lot of hard work and determination to make it happen (or as I like to say “getting s**t done”) We are always looking to improve because if your standing still then you are falling behind, small regular improvements are more successful than big overhauls. #recruitment #healthcare #education #franchising #businessandsport

Yesterday I wrote about that business being a team sport and the need for the team to work together to win at business. As part of this, I spoke about how the “I” in the “A” hole of team could hurt your business. Today I want to talk about a seemly opposite view about how the “I” in win can help your business. I will use the example of a cricket team. There are 11 batters going out to bat. If each one abdicates responsibility for the team performance to another batter, it is likely that the team will not score many runs. Or the example of a football team. If every player abdicates their responsibility to score a goal or a try to another player, it is likely that the team has a low score. So, the “I” in win means that every member of the team takes responsibility. Their attitude and effort, helps the team have a win, even if someone else scores that winning goal, run or try. For your business to win, which right now, may just be to survive these current times, you need to make sure: · Every member of the team takes responsibility for the team performance. Get them to be the “I” in win. · That any “I” in the “A” hole of team is appropriately managed.
