Despite last year's challenges, including high interest rates and geopolitical headwinds that impacted dealmaking, experts remain optimistic about private equity fundraising as M&A activity continues to recover. With increasing deal activity driving distributions back to LPs, the momentum is building for launching new funds and achieving robust returns. Middle-market firms have demonstrated resilience, successfully closing funds and attracting strong investor interest. This reflects a growing confidence in specialized strategies, especially in the lower middle-market, where the potential for outsized returns is particularly compelling. #DealMaking #PrivateEquity #Resilience #Fundraising #PlacementAgent #TritonLake https://lnkd.in/gaGkqGu8

*** Should You Say NO *** In any corporate venture, raising capital is critical to the smooth running and growth of the venture. #VCs just like #startupfounders raise funds, and one thing they have in common is........a desire to stay true to their mission and vision. It is also possible to explore fundraising options from every available corner without thoroughly considering what lies at the end of the investor's stake. Is there a scenario where you should say NO to the money? Raising funds from anyone who knocks on the door might lead to a clash of interests in the direction of your company, unusual expectations from board members, being forced to spend money on things you don't need, and so much more. Knowing your vision and finding those who align with it is more important than having a big raise at every funding round. This is why due diligence is very important. If investors dig deep to know who is going to get their money, the one receiving the money should equally do the same. Fair trade. The point of an investor coming on board your team is to serve as a positive addition/advantage to the vision of your team and company. Or better yet, a silent partner who cheers from the background hoping you bring in "the sheaves" in good time. But when it appears that you have more to lose from an investment than you stand to gain - financial/non-financial (the signs will be there), it might not hurt to turn down the offer (no matter how enticing). After all, "he who pays the piper dictates the tune". I tried to run an agri-business in school with my pocket money, but that didn't go so well. I could barely keep up with feeding, not to mention the running cost. I tried another business after my graduation (production and sale of snacks), this time with money from my family. I didn't care who the money came from, after all, it was family and I imagined they loved me and wanted my #success". But as much as they loved me, I learned early that when #money is involved, it all comes down to #interest. After receiving the money, it didn't take long before I found myself taking orders on how to run the business from people who had never run a business before. Every time I tried to maintain a firm stance on my goals, I was given a subtle reminder of where the money was coming from. It wasn't long before I started struggling to survive, in a place I did not want to be. In the course of learning and growing, I realized that saying no is beneficial to maintaining a safe business environment for yourself and your team. It removes the pressure of wanting to please someone or do what does not align with your overall mission/vision. In some cases, it makes your business more attractive to #investors. Knowing your prospective partner and how their goals/vision align with yours can save you a lot of headaches. What do you think? Valuations of outlier value have no precedent, for its value has no precedent. An investor's assessment of #valuation is a direct reflection of the upside he can envision. This article illustrates that large established managers continue to raise significant amounts into their flagship private equity funds. EQT, the European private equity firm, has raised $24 bn for its private equity fund in a tough fundraising environment. It took 2 years, which included a six month extension. What is interesting is the investor base. About 70% came from existing investors such as SWFs and pension funds. An increased share of 10% came from private wealth investors. #fundraising #SWF #privatewealth #privateequity #eqt
