BILIRUBIN ANALYZERS A bilirubin analyser is a device used to measure bilirubin levels and is often used in neonatal intensive units to screen new-borns for jaundice. The analysers either detect bilirubin levels in blood or serum samples or record skin reflectance measurements, which virtually eliminates the costs, trauma, and time associated with blood draws. Bilirubin fractions are measured by (1) the direct diazo reaction, (2) high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), (3) direct spectrophotometry, and (4) enzymatic methods. HPLC, which effects separation and quantitation of the four bilirubin fractions, is the method of choice, but impractical for routine use. #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking
