HOW TO REDUCE PRODUCTION COSTS Production cost is a key factor in business success, making cost reduction a top priority for managers and engineers. The typical approach often involves "cutting costs"—layoffs, using cheaper materials, extending equipment maintenance intervals, etc. However, these measures can introduce new problems and increase production risks. A better strategy is to modify and simplify the production process itself, making it more efficient and cost-effective. The PRIZ Innovation Platform offers Process Functional Modeling (PFM) as a powerful analytical tool for cost reduction. The principle is simple and effective: enhance what adds value to your product and eliminate what doesn’t. With PFM, you can thoroughly analyze your process and classify operations as follows: - Productive operations – irreversible changes that add value - Providing operations – temporary changes - Corrective operations – defect removal - Metrology operations – data generation The path to cost reduction becomes clear: - Focus on and develop productive operations that add value. - Minimize or eliminate non-value-adding operations. For instance, in microchip manufacturing, consider ways to enhance Deposition and Etch processes while reducing or eliminating Photolithography. Explore the PRIZ Platform and leverage Process Functional Modeling to reduce your production costs. We're here to support you with training and assistance. https://lnkd.in/dQM-sftB
