Those were the stats of last year's men's college basketball champions, Villanova University - 2018. It's incredible how amidst countless mistakes, they still clinched victory. That's the magic of the game! What truly inspires me? The players' unwavering focus. Despite the noise, pressure, and scrutiny, they stay locked in, doing their work with precision and determination. Who wouldn't want that level of focus every day? The players' resilience is equally remarkable. With every mistake magnified, they bounce back instantly, no time for excuses or complaints. They get back to work, knowing hesitation could cost the team. That resilience is something I strive for daily. And let's not forget the players' care for each other. That's the kind of care I want to embody every single day. And to think, these incredible feats come from individuals barely out of their teens. 🏀 High school, college, and NBA/WNBA basketball each have their own set of rules that differentiate them from one another. In high school basketball, players typically play four quarters of 8 minutes each, while college basketball consists of two halves of 20 minutes each. The NBA/WNBA, on the other hand, features four quarters of 12 minutes each. 🏀 The three levels of basketball also differ in the number of personal fouls allowed before a player fouls out. In high school, players can commit five personal fouls before being disqualified from the game. In college, the limit is also five fouls, but in the NBA/WNBA, players are allowed six fouls before fouling out. 🏀 Additionally, the three levels of basketball have different three-point lines distances. In high school, the three-point line is typically set at 19 feet 9 inches, while in college, it is set at 20 feet 9 inches. 🏀 Last night's New Jersey Group-2 High School State Basketball Semi-Final between Manasquan and Camden was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions and a powerful reminder of life's unpredictable nature. After a hard-fought game, Manasquan thought they secured the win with a last-second bucket, only for the officials to overturn the call, sending Camden to the State Finals. In the face of adversity, the Manasquan players, led by the admirable Coach Andrew Bilodeau, displayed remarkable composure and resilience. The controversial decision, though heartbreaking, serves as a important lesson: "Control what you can control." Life often throws curveballs, and it's our reactions that define us. Manasquan's players and Coach Bilodeau exemplified grace in their response, understanding that dwelling on uncontrollable factors only hinders our growth. As I often remind myself, success is not solely determined by outcomes but by the effort and dedication we put in. Coach Bilodeau's leadership shines through in his focus on not letting the press overshadow Camden's victory. This perspective reflects a valuable lesson: acknowledging others' achievements without diminishing their triumphs. While this outcome may sting for Manasquan, the resilience they exhibited, and the lessons learned from Coach Bilodeau will undoubtedly serve them well in life beyond basketball.
